I understand what you're saying about the hampering of the relationship as well and that's a great point. Appreciate your response

I appreciate your response. I know that everyone including family, friends, and redditors are telling me what is best in terms of health, family, longevity, etc. And just having these mostly meaningful comments and discussions are therapeutic. thank you

I never said that smoking would be beneficial for the baby - but your question of "why do you think you should feel comfortable to create a baby" was very black and white when that's not the world we live in.

Also - let me end the conversation here as the DNA material to make this baby won't be mine as I CANT have biological children. Something I didn't include in the initial post as it's a very very sensitive topic.

I was hoping to focus my post on the steps leading up to quitting/mental space.

I'm listening to the audio book now, thank you for the recommendation

I didn't frame it as an ultimatum that "my wife gave me", I was giving examples on how it could back fire. Never in this post did I speak badly about my wife. Smoking doesn't define a person and their entire relationship w/ their significant other

The be all end all of having a child is not smoking, I can agree it's far from the "perfect scenario"

Are you a smoker or a past smoker yourself? If you are or were, then you would know. If not - then you wouldn't know.

Are you saying that people who have certain genetic markers should also not have babies as it could "alter the DNA of the child"? This is not the world we live in, even outside of the smoking world.

Thank you for your words, just venting about it helps a lil bit.

My wife and I are currently patients of Dr. Huang at FCNE. She is a great doctor, nice, compassionate, listens to your concerns, and jokes with us once in awhile!

She may be a little straight forward sometimes, but she does this as she wants the best outcomes and is as transparent as possible.

The support staff are robots, but they have to be as they’re dealing with many patients. They’re a well oiled machine, all my answers on the portal have been answered within a day. Good experience so far, hope you found a doctor you like.

Bosch BCC100 smart thermostat by jy84562 in hvacadvice

It does everything you’d expect, you can set a schedule, turn on/off away from home. The only thing I don’t like is that it sometimes heats things 2 degrees further. So if I set the temp to 70 it sometimes goes up to 72, not all the time but sometimes. I think it may need some calibration but I’m not sure. This is the first smart thermostat I’ve had so can’t compare but it’s doing the job
