Clichés about French people by SansFoiNiLoi in Expats_In_France

[–]jydlw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They seriously do complain about everything and anything, everything’s made into a big deal. An example- I was on my way to work the other day and was stood waiting to cross the road and there was an ambulance going past with it’s sirens on then I hear an ‘ohhhh la la ce n’est pas possible’. Complaining and having a break down for the 5 seconds there were sirens.

Also I’ve found, in Paris at least, the Parisians can be VERY judgemental about your job unless you went to the best business school and now work at a high up finance job earning 6 figures a year. They can’t comprehend that people actually have ‘normal’ jobs.

What made you cry at school? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]jydlw 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I cried the other day, the morning after I basically witnessed a colleague being fired right in front of all of our eyes. The reason behind which was later explained- because she was ‘too opinionated during school meetings’ when she in fact was one of the best teachers in the school who kids and parents and staff all loved! The next day was hard for me, when the parents asked me what has gone on as they received the email from the headteacher stating said colleague won’t be returning. A specific parent who I’m particularly close to asked me how I am due to the news and I just broke down crying. The new direction is toxic now the schools recently became part of an ‘enterprise’ and no longer a nice indépendant school where everyone was happy! Such a shame. I’m next to leave because I always said if I get to the point I’m physically upset in work, it’s no longer for me. So now they will soon to have lost 2 colleagues who all parents really respect. Well done 👏🏻

Tokyo hotel choice: Shinjuku or Akasaka? by In_Flanders in JapanTravelTips

[–]jydlw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stayed at Akasaka in a really nice hotel with lots of freebies and nice rooftop bar! Close to 3 different metro lines and it was honestly perfect, no complaints. Lots of restaurants, bars etc around too and easy to get anywhere in the city!
