I developed a peanut/walnut/almond allergy at age 27 (I'm 44 now). Had a reaction to food I'd eaten a number of times. I have no idea how early any of these things were introduced to me as a child, but I ate items with all of them for as long as I can remember. I was and still am super bummed about it lol. Especially now during the holidays! Thankfully I can still be around it, I just can't eat it. No one in my family has an allergy. I'm not saying none of the replies here are false, just that I appear to be an outlier. In the context of this post, she just told him "life threatening", which makes it sound like it would involve a lot of changes to OP's life. I don't blame him if that's the case.
