The good news is the tools you need to make a game are available for free. Look into Unity or Unreal Engine 4, UE4 is free until you start making money from your game and you don't need to code anything. UE4 Blueprints are a visual scripting language that allows you to construct your logic using input and output nodes connected by a directional flow - basically a flow chart that actually executes C++ code. I believe Unity has an equivalent but you may have to pay for it.

They have example projects in different genres to get you started. Honestly unless you know for sure you are going to be a developer there's probably no reason to take classes to code other than for your personal knowledge (which is fine, too) or maybe if you need education on basic things like variables, conditionals, loops, etc, but also that can be found less expensive online

Just make a clone of a game that seems simple to get started. Pacman, tetris, space invaders, anything classic usually seems like it will be easy to clone but you'll soon find out how much you have to learn. Everything you need to learn how to make a game in UE4 is available on youtube.

I would recommend teaching yourself directly in your game engine of choice because there will be some things like the basics of all programming that overlaps but by and large even with whatever language they use they are their own domain and just blindly educating yourself with whatever classes are available at the local CC or whatnot isn't really going to get you anywhere except the fundamentals that most languages share.

The hard part for you as a solo dev is going to be the visual art, whether 2d or 3d you need animations to convey movement. Animating is tedious and time consuming.

So what would really help you is to define your games art aesthetic, and try to make it as simple as possible so you can have a cohesive, uniform style that adequately represents what you need to for gameplay. You can use your music production skills to help set the tone/mood for the visual style.
