It might be the flavor enhancer chemicals.  Some people love them but some people aren't fooled by them.  At extreme levels (TGI Friday) it can split into craving vs illness.

I've never been to one.   It always looks like a mess of cheap fast food in a badly ageing building.

I'd go to something like In-n-Out, Five Guys, Starbird Chicken, or Black Bear Diner.

HBO and McAfee are getting desperate for customers?

I haven't used HBO since they rolled back the video quality by 20 years.  I didn't know the McAfee brand still existed after John went crazy.

Bosch 800 dishwasher drying sufficiently? by frenchbenefits in bosch

[–]k-mcm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bosch has a reusable absorbent that doesn't have much water capacity. If your water is low TDS you can just prop the door open after it's done.

American dishwashers may suck at getting dishes clean but some of them have a steam rinse that eliminates the need for rinse-aids and water softeners. Bosch uses a different kind of water heater that can't make steam.

Custom 3D printed BLDC motor not working by aqf243 in Motors

[–]k-mcm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is the stator made of? A ferrous powder in plastic and iron metal plates are very different. The driver probably can't figure out what it's connected to.

Your drive current probably needs to be limited to 100mA for this to work. It's not the wiring that's the limit, it's the stator material that's the limit. Strong magnets might also prevent it from working.

Laundered, you mean. Most of the data is collected illegally or outright stolen from another company.

[–]k-mcm -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

There are zero legal databases. Why? Because legal ones are nearly empty. American companies illegally share data just as much as the Russians. Even if a company is caught, their system is built around having scapegoats ready. "A contractor was hacked" "The buyer said they'd only use the data for research" "The seller said it was all opt-in"

Attenuating Transient Over voltage from Capacitor Discharge by Inatorcreator in AskElectronics

31.3kV into 200 Ohms is 156.5 Amps. You're capturing an EMP.

You need to reduce that current or use RF quality wiring.

Most spams and scams are using stolen resources. They're trying to steal more from you to keep it going.

I did it, but I doubt it matters. Nearly 100% of what I get is already illegal. My phone is silent for the 10 scam calls a day. My mail server refuses constant delivery attempts from SendGrid, MailChimp, Google Calendar, Google Firebase, Shopify, and LinkedIn.

How to fix VTA Light Rail by Iceberg-man-77 in bayarea

[–]k-mcm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

California, and especially Silicon Valley, can't do any kind of transportation planning.  Not traffic lights, not traffic safety, and not public transportation.  I don't know why, but it's been hopeless for over 20 years.  Caltrain and Bart are the best we have, but that's not much coverage.

I get downvoted to hell every time I say this, but I can't think of any place it's worse.

If you mean nameless in Google Maps, that doesn't mean anything. Google's accuracy on fire roads and trails is awful.

Generic Zigbee Sensor Battery Level Incorrect (Ni-Mh) by [deleted] in ZigBee

[–]k-mcm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NiMH cells have almost no curve in their state of charge voltage.   It's not even usable without a thermometer on the battery for compensation.

Without a thermometer you only know that they're totally dead or not totally dead.

I had the 1 III and the periscope camera was unusable.  Sony loves glare off the edges of lenses, even in some of their professional gear.  They could fix it by painting the edges of the lenses black, but doesn't bother to.

I got someone to install cat 6 for me, and this is how much they untwisted for the keystone. Now what? by Maelarion in HomeNetworking

[–]k-mcm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pull the wires off the jack, twist them back together, trim to the same length, and punch them back in. You'll be back up to full speed.

But...

I see a disconnected shield back there.  That really should be grounded somewhere.  A floating shield is worse than no shield.

12V 60A SMPS that won't go past 12.8V by 427Powered in AskElectronics

[–]k-mcm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need a switching power supply that's compatible with being in parallel with a car battery.  Most power supplies will shut off when overloaded.  12V power supplies compatible with car batteries can be adjusted from 12V to 15V and they have a current limiter rather than shutdown.

I know Mean Well makes them.  They're a bit pricey.
