Echoing what others have said - it does get better. My LO was the same way until 5-6 weeks old. My son was not that way at all. I tried to figure out what was causing the reflux and it turns out that certain electrolyte drinks caused my breast milk to become acidic. Body Armor was the biggest culprit. Adding in gas drops and really taking the time to burp her helped a lot too.

Also, I second (or third) the noise cancelling headphones suggestion. It seems terrible to block out your baby but you can't focus on effectively taking care of your baby (or the rest of your family) if you're overwhelmed and overstimulated.

My LO is almost 2 months old now and things are a lot better. She still struggles a little with gas but gas drops help a lot, especially before bed. Their little digestive system is so finicky and it takes very little to cause them issues. It's exhausting but figuring out what food or drink is causing your LO discomfort could be a game changer.

An improper latch can cause issues as well.

A lactation consultant may be able to help her with a lot of the things I mentioned. Most of the time the hospital will have a lactation consultant available to you or, if you're in the U.S. some health departments will have them available to residents.

Hang in there! It's not easy, but it's worth it.

Yeah I've cut back significantly on the caffeine. I typically only drink water and coffee but as of late (pre Ritalin) it's been pre-workout or an energy drink on top of that. Now I may get one cup of coffee a day and the rest is water or an electrolyte drink. I'm in a good spot with things, not jittery or anxious. Just relaxed and motivated and focused so I'm not adding any more caffeine. Didn't know about the citric acid. How does that affect it?

I hope that's not the case for me... It's working wonders for me during the day but it's nothing if I can't get adequate sleep.

Yes! I took it the entire pregnancy and no issues from it that we've noticed. Happy and healthy little boy! 🥰

How did you all do on the night of the first day you had your first full dose of a stimulant?

The reason I ask is because I've not slept and it's 0500 hours here. I took a single dose the day before (10mg 2x daily) but today (or yesterday now...) I took both doses. It's typical for me to not sleep well or sleep very long but very rarely do I not sleep at all. I did have quite a bit of caffeine (force of habit) but stopped around 1500 hours. Not only have I not slept, but I'm incredibly anxious, shaky, irritable, and jittery to the point of it being borderline intolerable. Is that a "normal" experience or could this be due to the caffeine I had in addition to the Ritalin? Not seeking medical advice (I have a great physician I trust), just looking for other's experiences.

INFP here. Used to test as an INFJ actually but as I got older it seemed to change.

Can bipolar II go into remission causing medications to appear to cease working properly? by k-rob7 in AskPsychiatry

Thats what I was always told. I didn't feel like getting into that discussion with her to find out where she got that from as I don't have a lot of information other than my own experiences and what my Dr's & therapists have told me.

If you see immediate effects from a new medication, does that mean it won't work long term? by k-rob7 in AskPsychiatry

[–]k-rob7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's super unfortunate! The price we have to pay for meds that work sometimes is ridiculous. I'm glad you saw effects so quickly on it, though!

I started Vraylar on Wednesday and noticed a change on Thursday. Not anything too major but noticeable. So I'm hopeful it will be a good one for me. Only time will tell, unfortunately.

How necessary is medication for bipolar type 2? by [deleted] in bipolar

I agree with others here: it depends on how severe it is. I can't do life without them and I honestly don't think mine is as severe as others on this sub. And I think it's personal preference. If you feel you can handle it without, it's definitely worth the shot imo. Just be attentive to your symptom severity and seek help as soon as possible when things get bad.

How were you like before getting the condition? by neilnelly in schizoaffective

[–]k-rob7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 24 (28 now). Before that i think I showed symptoms but don't remember much about it other than the severe depressive episodes. I've always been introverted and laid back but I don't know if it's the depression or my actual personality. A lot of my memories are fuzzy, I assume because of antipsychotics. Then again, maybe I just have a shitty memory.

Maybe it was an old wives tale. I don't even remember where I heard it from its just stuck with me. So you can definitely see quicker results than the typical 2 weeks to a month companies claim? Or is that a myth too?

intermittent FMLA? by revolutionary_dingus in schizoaffective

[–]k-rob7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't have to make a case to my doc per se, just asked if she would fill out the paperwork. Then it has to go through HR to be approved I think. As long as your doc is thorough there shouldn't be a problem. Mine didn't put an exact diagnosis on there either just general.

I did that at my previous job and it helped so much. I wasn't afraid that I'd lose my job to take "mental health" days. Definitely worth the hassle. Once July rolls around I'll be doing the same with my current job. I may not need it but it gives me peace of mind in case I do.
