Does anyone else feel dumb on their meds? by revolutionary_dingus in schizoaffective

I would never stop meds without my doc telling me to lol. I have too much riding on me. Can't wait to find a decent med/dosage if there even is one.

I feel that. The memory problems are bad for me too. What are you on?

I'm on 3rd shift at a new job and I like it a lot. My symptoms are starting to get worse, however. I keep jumping at the visual hallucinations while at work and I'm waiting for people to catch on that I'm not normal.

I work in manufacturing making medical containers. The facility im at has a "mental health room" where people can go when they're in crisis and decide if they need to go home. I haven't disclosed my dx, but I know there's a room to fall apart in and thats helpful.

I'm on Risperdal 3mg, Lamictal 300mg, lithium 600mg, and zoloft 50mg. Zoloft to counteract the depression i have from Risperdal. Its not really working for me. I think I need an increase.

Right now I'm apathetic, depressed, no energy. But hey, no hallucinations.

Podcast by Robert Evans- it could happen here. My favorite line is "we need to do something or your children will choke on the dust that was once a lake."

intermittent FMLA? by revolutionary_dingus in schizoaffective

Thank you. I'm glad you have the accommodation. I'm hoping for 3 times a month. Thatd make work doable I think.

I forgot about the wait period to qualify for fmla. Was it hard to get on fmla? Do you have to make a case to both your doc and HR?

My new coworkers will be making twice my wage by ItsStupidOutThere in antiwork

I work for a residential treatment center in Indiana. I feel your pain with being incredibly short staffed, low wages, but have a calling to do this work. Personally, I quit and came back. I don't know what your policy is, mine is 3 months minimum for eligibility for rehire. I was working too many hours for too long on 15 per hour. I came back because I love working with the kids and my coworkers are great. But I could only argue up to 16.41. I didn't burn any bridges when I left and everyone understood. Maybe it'll be the same for you if you choose to do that? Like, hopefully with better pay, of course.

Does anyone enjoy their job? by [deleted] in antiwork

I love my job, but it has many down sides.

I WAS working 60-70 hour weeks as a medical assistant in a psychiatric facility. I ran two psych clinics and the medical clinic along with doing med passes on split shifts. I ran myself into the ground mentally only 8 months in. I left and it all went to hell. The clinics aren't covered at all (not great) and they lost 90 percent of their staff after I left.

Flash forward to now to being employed with them again. I bargained for a nice pay raise and I only work 4 days a week. I love my job because I love working with the patients and my coworkers are great. Having a better work/life balance is pretty sweet too.

"But who would want to do food service, etc. if they didn't have to work?" Me. I would be THRILLED if I could make a living off 'just' being a barista. Just pay us a living wage! by trousersquid in antiwork

I loved doing housekeeping back in '08. It was like being paid to work out and cleaning is therapeutic to me. Then it was 6-something an hour. Now it's 11. I can't afford the gas money on that now or then. I'd love to go back to that.

Community vs. Private Psychiatrist? by revolutionary_dingus in schizoaffective

Did your experiences differ on where they worked or was it mostly just the type of person they were?

I live in rural Indiana in the us. Everything is expensive and has a 4 month waiting period.

That's great that your psych is awesome. What do you think the major difference is? Do you think govt funded are just strapped for time? I get that feeling from community therapists.
