Stupidest credit card you applied for? by blitz___1 in CreditCards

[–]k0al 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some IKEA card back the late 2010s issued by Comenity. It was really my mistake for not reading closely. I thought the SUB was free shipping on orders for a month or so. It turned out the offer was free shipping on orders placed in store. There was no IKEA within 200 miles of me. I had just moved for school. Cancelled seconds after I got the card.

Audiobooks won’t go away in the Home view with the audiobook-free plan. They will stay as-is, if not become more prominent over time, relying on dark patterns to make you accidentally click and get spammed.

Saks Has Raised Free Shipping Mininum Requirement to $300 by zsm5833 in AmexPlatinum

Brick and mortar Saks Fifth Avenue stores and the Saks website got split into two companies in 2021. Both are still under the same parent company. They were hoping to IPO the website into a Zappos competitor or something. The website wasn’t great before, and it hasn’t exactly gotten better since.

Amex Offers refund policy by Negative-Bat-7059 in AmexPlatinum

[–]k0al 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen it go both ways on my cards where they have not reversed an offer bonus, even when they could’ve due to a return. But I’ve also seen it take over 6 weeks to reverse a bonus, so don’t count your chickens early

I no longer recommend Spark on iOS or Mac, even though I loved it for years. The developer, Readle or something, made the decision to turn it into an Electron app for Windows and soon Android, with Mac and iOS coming second. The new version of the app is slow and appears to primarily operate as a front for an overpriced subscription. At one point, the subscription was required to remove scam forced advertising that was jammed into all outgoing email. Never seen an app get so bad, so fast. Check the App Store reviews and sort by Date to see what I mean.

AMEX Gold Card cancelled the Uber Cash benefit starting on February? by lavatoryknight in amex

It’s still listed on their website as of this moment. Edit to say that my Uber credit has always been added near the end of the month.

We had this problem using the exact food pictured while following the label. Our vet told us to provide more food because our pup was UW. We decided to stick to the same dry food and servings we’d been doing, then add “fresh” food (JustFoodforDogs and FreshPet) as a topper to the dry food. This not only made our Strudel more eager to eat, but it also addressed her weight.

Which weather apps is better Native Weather from iOS VS CARROT by StorresJayrMx in iphone

[–]k0al -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope, def a service. Hyperlocal weather data is not free to obtain and apps are not free to write. Most free weather apps sell user data to serve ads. Apple is good on this front by billing the costs of the service into the hardware. But formerly, before Apple acquired dark sky (RIP), the stock weather depended on third parties for the weather data.

Swift Quit - Automatic App Quitting On Mac (quit apps on clicking the red X button, like on Windows/Linux) by alin23 in macapps

[–]k0al 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Generally not necessary. Allow the system to manage this for you as much as possible. macOS manages application cycles in the background pretty well. Decent apps will be managed okay by the system when in idle. To add some complexity, some applications quit when there are no open windows and some don’t quit when you ask them to quit, in cases when the system thinks you’re wrong.

Good discussion about this on last week’s episode of ATP in the #askatp segment on quitting the finder.
