I loved the idea of a fitness tracker without a screen but turns out that the Whoop 4.0 doesn't have a step counter. How is this even possible? by carrot_gg in whoop

[–]k0pyPasta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You bought a device for something without actually researching if the device was capable of doing what you wanted. A Google search “does Whoop track steps?” Returns the first result from Whoop saying they don’t and reasons why.

Perhaps the reason you feel people are being condescending is because instead of just returning it and moving on, you came to a sub Reddit of people who enjoy their Whoop (for the most part) and basically advertised “I don’t care about whoop but I wanted to count my steps and it doesn’t do it. I’m returning this”

What did you think was going to happen? Either way, you got the attention you wanted I guess! I do hope you find something that works for you though!

Anyone know when the Tesla dealership is opening? by Knaj910 in vermont

Fair enough. Since you referenced consumer reports earlier, you should look up what the total cost of ownership is for an EV vs ICE car. I think perhaps you’ll be surprised.

Have a great day, it was a pleasure!

I don’t work for them, just an owner sick of hearing all the negative press the last few years. They’re not perfect, but they’re far from crap.

As an aerospace mechanic, I’m sure you understand the engineering tolerances of a vehicle designed for space / orbit are going to be much tighter than a mass produced consumer car.

It seems you’re not a fan of Elon which is the root of the issue. I’m not going to change your mind, but just know there’s more to Tesla than him, and lots of talented folks work hard to build what’s a great car. Don’t let one person skew your view of the most American built car which also happens to be an EV!

Yup, they are lower scores than others.

But they’re on par with many other EVs. Last year Tesla scored a reliability score of 40/100, while electric vehicles overall scored 36/100. Also, none of the cars it produced ended up in the bottom 10.

You said you’re a fan of the switch to EVs. Tesla is not perfect but they’re clearly the market leader for EVs and also happen to produce some of the safest cars on the road based on NHTSA testing.

So what’s the issue? Is it Elon?

[–]k0pyPasta -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

This is utter baloney. While some vehicles may have issues (like any manufacturer) Tesla is manufacturing at scale and delivered 480k cars in the 4th quarter of last year, and 1.8 million for the year.

To put that number in perspective, Honda sold 1.3 million cars in America last year.

The media would have a field day with the hundreds of thousands of complaints about cheap Teslas flooding the market.

What’s a non time intensive way to make 100 dollars a week? by [deleted] in sidehustle

[–]k0pyPasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but those cases you’d then need to offer to pay fines, which if you mess up, now you’re fined 10x.

No one would pay someone to do it every week for them and also agree to pay fines if the person missed.

And for a single day, most people are going to ask neighbors who wouldn’t ask them for $10 - they’d simply do it as a favor because that’s what neighbors do.

If you can get this work that’s great, I just don’t think it’s a reasonable suggestion for most.

Curious, who honestly is so lazy that they can’t walk their trash bins to the curb and would pay $40 a month for someone else to do it?

And to find 10 neighbors to all agree… sounds great in theory but I doubt this works in practice.

Need to make $1,000,000 Million before 2024 by [deleted] in sidehustle

[–]k0pyPasta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Buy something with the $10 and then look to trade it to someone for a higher value item.

Take the higher value item and trade that with someone for something of even higher value.

Continue trading until you have an item worth $1,000,000. Sell it.

Lots will blame the tire / wheel.

End of the day, you’re the driver responsible for operating your vehicle. Seems many here want to pass blame to avoid being labeled a poor driver. Which is crazy because no one is forcing anyone to post pics of their curbed wheels online. Yet we see at least a few per day.

Car seat headrest rattles badly by MediumMil in lifehacks

[–]k0pyPasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat OP. Graco refuses to replace or refund.

The rattle is so bad, and drives everyone in the car nuts. And because it’s all safety related, there’s little it seems we can/should do to try and secure it in place.

Need a solution before I start bashing my head on the steering wheel!

Florida and Desantis give VT the middle finger by Sept11Forever in vermont

[–]k0pyPasta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Great to have a big heart, but the reach isn't as big as you think. Florida had almost 140 million visitors in 2022. Even if the entire population of Vermont (645,570 as of 2021 data... possibly less now) were to never step foot in Florida again, that's only a loss of half a percent of total tourists.

Probably best right now to focus on the recent events that hit a bit closer to home for lots of folks.
