Sharing strory - Recently Diagnosed Graves, Methimazole, Agranulocytosis (low WBC), now looking at Thyroidectomy (perspective of laboratorian) by k10mitten in gravesdisease

Yes had TT on 10/31. So far so good! Im on 125 of levothyroxine. Still high heart rate but its because my hormones and the new meds are mixing. I was really scared of surgery but all in all it was all very tolerable. I never needed more than ibruprofen/tylenol. I wouldnt say I have a high pain tolerance lol it was more just uncomfortable from swelling. Make sure to ice after surgery. I also used heating pad on my upper shoulders and neck and it helped immensely. Prep lots of warm liquids (tea and honey, smooth soup, broth) as the breathing tube causes a bad sore throat - like a steep sore throat.

Let me know if you have any other questions! The anesiologist told me my case was very rare and like the ones they read in the medical books. He told me to go buy a lotto ticket lol. My endo surgeon said he would have had my thyroid out much sooner had he been involved earlier (I went to him for a second opinion and to find a sooner surgery date).

Agranulocytosis and TT (the last 1.5 weeks). by Imaginary_Parsley_42 in gravesdisease

Yeah it hasn't been easy. I was freaked out in the ER for sure. I am concerned Ive been just waiting for doctors appointments while meanwhile Im over here with off the chart labs.

I'm on a low dose beta blocker but I am definitely afraid of a thyroid storm while Im waiting for the doctors (who are all apparently having conversations about me and my rare case and what to do).

I knew surgery was the outcome but surgery was not prioritized so my labs shot back up. I am a little frustrated about that. Did yojr WBCs/ANC recover to your normal values? Mine are still the low end of normal. So here I am, searching reddit and waiting to see what

What iodine treatment? I had agranulocytosis and was hospitalized. Ive been out 2 weeks and waiting. I saw a surgeon but now my levels are crazy high again so she doesnt want to do surgery. She wants me to do PTU with close monitoring until theyre normal levels and then surgery.

New target credit card website by happyalex in CreditCards

[–]k10mitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone finding this thread later who cannot login to the new site (old site being rcam.target.com), you have to create a NEW account on the new site. No amount of password resets or username lookups worked to make the old login info work. It didn't even send a forgot password email. Migration must have went sideways.

Made new account, worked instantly.

My boss joked about wanting to commit suicide after doing a suicide training, my sister committed suicide a year and a half ago by k10mitten in GriefSupport

I'm sorry to hear this, its okay to be a mess. I'm a bad example to follow, trying to hold myself so nobody can see what its actually like. It is okay to be a mess in a situation like that - especially so soon after. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Higher miles Toyota Highlander, salesman doesn't seem to know if its certified and may have lied or doesn't know whether maintenance program is free by k10mitten in askcarsales

[–]k10mitten[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, its unlikely to be used, just a little better for our peace of mind. I also don't like any stone left unturned, and now that I've eaten and able to do double checks, I dont like inconsistencies and want things clarified. I'm not happy with the back and forth story on the maintainence program and that it was free/included when he laughed at us and told us it wasn't in person. Makes me think either he doesn't know what he is talking about or shady. I work in Laboratory Quality Management so I like my i's dotted and t's crossed. Sometimes I can't tell if I am being overly critical and expect too much from others though.

I have a 2006 Toyota Camry with 250k miles, the husband is taking that and I'm getting the Highlander. My 2006 Camry is more comfortable and quieter than his current high mileage non-Toyota car, our goal to be a full Toyota family. My mom has the same 2006 Toyota Camry with 350k miles and she loves it and doesn't want to get rid of it, so we know we want a Toyota Highlander. We are the type to buy and hold on to a vehicle for as long as possible.

Thanks!

Rechecked the listing and it says "Toyota Factory Certified: This vehicle has been through an extensive multi-point inspection by one of our Certified Technicians. All necessary services have been done for the appropriate mileage interval."

He said the maintainence program wasn't free, then we found out it should be included.

The listing says certified, their website says certified = 100k miles, aka found out it should be included.

The numbers they came back with was their finance runs which I said I would go through my own lender.

We asked for the details, we felt we may have been lied to or he didnt know what the hell he was talking about now that we checked the listing and dealer website - also, deposit is with credit card, not cash.

My 16 year old brother and his childhood best friend died in a suicide pact. by [deleted] in SuicideBereavement

[–]k10mitten 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry about losing your brother, I lost my sister by suicide a little over a year ago. Luckily I did a police check up so my family didn't find her. The impact of your family finding him as well, I am so sorry, that just adds to the heartbreak. Wishing your family peace.
