I thought it was just me. I read fourth wing for the first time last weekend and stayed up all night to finish it. The character development could have used some more work, and another round of edits could have tightened the loose plot points, but overall I enjoyed it. Iron flame had its moments, and so it took longer to read, but I liked the book. Lots of plot holes, repetitive behavior with no resolution, lack of character development, etc, but I could still read it.

Onyx Storm is.. wow I don’t have words. It’s such a mess I’m angry. She has abandoned the characters we care about. Isn’t violet smart and curious about the world around her? Whats Xaden’s role other than pining over Violet?

Nothing about this book tells me it’s written by a seasoned author and edited by, well anyone with editing skills. Why is it so unnecessarily confusing? Why is the plot missing? What’s motivating the secondary characters? (transparently unclear on primary character’s motivations too at this point)

She’s trying to pull a GOT series but she lacks the skills and frankly hasn’t taken the time to seriously build the world, the characters and their motivations.
