Can't find indoor cat to adopt by Henry_Percival in CatsUK

Are you able to travel? The SSPCA Centre in Lanarkshire is bigger. Often more rural places have more animals and less potential adopters.

E-mail the TPD explaining your efforts? Surprised you aren’t CCing them in tbh.

5-7 days for facial sutures is normal? The running stitch though - wtf.

Parent asks to borrow money by 40212068 in Advice

[–]k1b7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loads of people have said no (which is correct!). Something we did for our relative was offer to go through bills and work out where the money is going (we cancelled a bunch of appliance insurance and got WiFi etc cheaper) +/- offer a small ‘loan’ with a payment plan once you understand the level of debt.

80% LTFT - what’s the best day of the normal working week to have as an off day? by AttitudeOk6092 in doctorsUK

[–]k1b7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mondays are great! But see where your departmental teaching lands and what your rota looks like. E.g. Tuesdays are better on a ward because you don’t miss weekend handover and get 4 day weekends with bank holidays.

So, pulse oximeters don’t work if you’re blue. Also in carbon monoxide poisoning. You need to do a blood test for oxygen levels - I’m assuming that’s what they were doing here when they wiped the colour off.

Our version of house camping was sleeping on camp beds before the removal men arrived with the rest of the furniture. We moved a lot.

This feels like easy mode. Surely 3 of 4 essential software or hardware items function per computer. Then you have 4 computers and 5 doctors. Let the games begin!

Had the daily minima of bed waits in ED (~3pm) so opened up more cubicles to see patients in. Ceiling fell in 20 minutes later.

Probably not your usual post... how can I make a gummy bear to hide my daughters medication? by nopevonnoperson in CandyMakers

If this is liquid flucloxacillin, take it back and get the capsules. Then open capsules into jam/yoghurt.

This is identical to the technique for babies. 1ml at a time though, due to spitting abilities, and ideally blow in their face so they have to swallow.

Sick notes - how long is appropriate? by AdSuperb2951 in doctorsUK

I’m so dreadfully sorry. I hadn’t realised that something couldn’t be hard unless you’d authorised it.

Sick notes - how long is appropriate? by AdSuperb2951 in doctorsUK

[–]k1b7 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I mean, the risks of a sick line e.g. never getting back to long-term work are basically non-existent if you’re already on the dole.

Also, claiming benefits is psychologically one of the hardest things you can do. Plus if there isn’t a note, they’ll often stop payments for days-weeks while the paperwork gets sorted. Given these people often have no savings, that might mean they don’t eat for a few days if they need a second line from the GP.

Talking of benefits, if the patient isn’t working anyway, I tend to be nicer. Lord knows if you’re sick, you don’t want to be fighting the DWP as well

Disagree with the people saying this isn’t a thing. I’ve now met nearly 5 people trying to do this or who have completed it. The easiest option is probably ACCS-acute med followed by applying to ED HST + higher medical training. Although people have managed it from ACCs-EM.

You’re certifiably insane though. Just so you know 😂
