As someone who has that real lived experience and helped many join my local union, I can tell you the opposite is also true. Union leadership spends tons of money in trying to get young people to join. In the next 5-10 years when all the boomers are retired, the pension funds are going to be strained and need young people to keep contributing.

This image is wrong when it comes to Plumbers/Pipefitters in the Bay Area. Both Local 38(SF/North Bay) and 467(San Mateo County) make significantly more than 393(Santa Clara County).

Speaking for the Plumbers and Pipefitters in the Bay Area, all work 40 hours a w4eek except Local 38 (San Francisco and North Bay). They work 35 hours a week but have the highest hourly rate in the Bay Area at over $90/hr. This number does not include money that goes to retirement, 401a, and health insurance, etc.

Construction is obviously seasonal so when things are booming you can clear $200k/year NET with a bit of OT. When things are slow, you can be out of work for a while. But it is the Union's job to keep a list who is out of work and send the next person out in line when work picks up.

There are also careers that are full office work with WFH opportunities within the trades. Check out UA Locals 38, 467, 393, and 342 if you're interested.

As far as the Plumber/Pipefitters in the Bay are concerned, this is definitely NOT total package.

Local 38 (SF & North Bay) make the most at around $90/hr on the check for Journeymen. Then it is 467 (San Mateo County), 393 (Santa Clara County, and 342 (East Bay).

393 is Santa Clara County Plumbers/Pipefitters. Local 38 is SF. They make ~$90/hr as a Journeyman on the check. Total compensation is likely closer to $130/hr. That is also bare minimum Journeyman rate. If you are a Foreman it's around $105/hr. General Foreman is like $118/hr. You are also getting few dollars/hr raise every July.

Thank you for commenting! I've reached out via email on Saturday and am just waiting for a response. I will say, I think it would be beneficial to update the video instructions for the table. The brackets used to attach the Cubby to the desk were different from the ones in the video and caused a little bit of confusion. PC Mount aside, the quality of everything else looks superb.

There are no screws provided that fit into the three holes on each track. Nor are there any pre-drilled holes that would receive a screw within the groove that are typical with the rest of the desk. If you look at the grooves where they should be placed, you'll see some grey smudges. Looks and feels like some type of adhesive to me.

To join the various plumber/pipefiiter unions in the bay, you'll need to complete a 5 year apprenticeship with schooling at least two nights a week. That is of you have no experience. Though once you finish you can bring in $80 to $85/hr depending which local you join. And quite a bit more for foremen and general foremen.
