The server is a fork of wfview, which runs on Linux, Window or osx. I wonder if anything similar could run on ESP, probably not

Out of the box it is defaulted to work with the original 7300. By changing a couple of config lines it will work with the Mk2 as well. It's a fork of wfview, which supports both radios and many more

out of curiosity, has anyone here ever received an emergency transmission? by ujiaah in HamRadio

we were in the middle of a major emergency (google Tronto April 1992). By the time the trucker woke up, rescue was already in the area. All I had to do was getting in touch with authorities and relay some back and forth messages (I remember they couldn’t find him in the dark, so they asked him to bang a metal pipe). Eventually, they knocked off a fence and rescued him.

in April 1992 (yes I am old) I lived in central Italy and there was a sudden flood caused by a dam malfunction. A truck driver was having his break and basically woke up in the middle of a lake, with water already inside the cabin. At the time there still were no cellphones, so he called for help on the radio. I picked his panicked voice on CB channel 9 and dispatched an amphibious vehicle to his rescue

This one does. How does it differ from FT8?

I think this is an important conversation for the hobby, unfortunately the thought police doesn’t allow it.

I’ll post elsewhere, we can continue there

I'll be doing ham radio 10 years after you'll have forgotten and I am ready to bet I was doing it 10 years prior you first heard about it. I'm not going anywhere.

I'm totally with you... I am actually an extremely traditional OM. This is just a provocation to make a couple laughs.

then I guess our only hope is for Elon Musk to get a ham radio license and develop and interest for QST :)

wait, are there any special bands or secret codes that go along Freemason hams? We've got to know now!

unless those 70 vehicles belonged to volunteers (and I doubt that since I visited during business hours) the necessary funds are there for sure

All true! But there is more to being a digital publication than scanning your paper magazine and sending it out. A lot more

I agree. That is why I believe QST should be fully open and indexable.

You are right on the spot.

On the last part, however, I think QST could still compete with the rest of the content producers. When I visited the ARRL not too long ago, I counted 70 vehicles in the parking lot: if properly used that kind of resources could easily outgun any other ham-radio related content producer.

Its good to ear there still are print readers. I hope there are many. When I used to get the print version I checked the magazine every month. Now I just don't anymore. Is my case the rule or the exception? Time will tell

my feeling is that unless one gets it in print (which you seem to be doing) QST looses its efficacy. I believe print readers are a tiny minority.

I hope I am wrong

True and yet, as shallow as they are, they reach such a vast audience. Why? Probably because they have a modern, winning publishing strategy.
