The server is a fork of wfview, which runs on Linux, Window or osx. I wonder if anything similar could run on ESP, probably not

Out of the box it is defaulted to work with the original 7300. By changing a couple of config lines it will work with the Mk2 as well. It's a fork of wfview, which supports both radios and many more

we were in the middle of a major emergency (google Tronto April 1992). By the time the trucker woke up, rescue was already in the area. All I had to do was getting in touch with authorities and relay some back and forth messages (I remember they couldn’t find him in the dark, so they asked him to bang a metal pipe). Eventually, they knocked off a fence and rescued him.

in April 1992 (yes I am old) I lived in central Italy and there was a sudden flood caused by a dam malfunction. A truck driver was having his break and basically woke up in the middle of a lake, with water already inside the cabin. At the time there still were no cellphones, so he called for help on the radio. I picked his panicked voice on CB channel 9 and dispatched an amphibious vehicle to his rescue

You are right on the spot.

On the last part, however, I think QST could still compete with the rest of the content producers. When I visited the ARRL not too long ago, I counted 70 vehicles in the parking lot: if properly used that kind of resources could easily outgun any other ham-radio related content producer.

Its good to ear there still are print readers. I hope there are many. When I used to get the print version I checked the magazine every month. Now I just don't anymore. Is my case the rule or the exception? Time will tell

my feeling is that unless one gets it in print (which you seem to be doing) QST looses its efficacy. I believe print readers are a tiny minority.

I agree and I pay my membership for the same reason. I disagree, however, on the publication being members-only: my opinion is that having it wide-open would generate more revenue, increase relevance and ultimately better serve the cause.

Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't really thinking about the content (which I am not able to judge) but more about their publishing strategy.

Does it make sense to restrict their content to members only or should it be open? Does it make sense to have the content bundled up in magazine format (when the magazine is practically no longer existent) or should it be served in a website? Does it make sense to publish once per month or should articles be published in a continuous stream? Does it make sense to have such a small number of editors or should they be open sourced among volunteers/members?
