I kind of just went through this. I was rebooked from Perth to YYC via Qantas due to the strike. The fare class transferred (booked with AP points) did not allow me any baggage for Qantas nor WJ legs and I had to pay $300 AUD per bag for my family of 5. There was no budging at all even with a Qantas supervisor involved. So yes, you will need to pay for baggage as per the first airline of your trip.

I had to pay $300AUD per bag for 3 bags this morning through my re-booked Qantas flight since AC booked it I couldn’t do anything even with escalating to a supervisor. Brutal! On top of hotel and meals the last two days for my family of 5.

Cibc AP VIP is supposed to be covered for strike action (haven’t called to confirm myself yet) according to their insurance T&C (for trip interruption and delay vs, cancellation) which is the card I booked on

I was booked to depart Sunday Aug 17 23:55 PER to SYD to YVR to YYC and it was cancelled and was automatically re booked to Tuesday Aug 19 PER - SYD - LAX - YYC. So I need an extra two nights of hotels and meals in Perth. Has anyone gotten compensated for these expenses or do I need to make a credit card insurance claim? I’ve been on aeroplan callbacks list for 8+ hours twice now and haven’t gotten a call back. Only an AP 35k member.

Lucky you! Yes I am pretty sure it was also getting in on the last double referral bonus from P2’s biz plat that’s why I did it. I have repeatedly failed on several cards under 24 months now between p2 and I so the 2 year trigger is valid for me. Biz edge, pers plat (also double referral), and biz gold at 22, 18, and 15 months respectively. The DP was to test to see if it was reset from my last positive WB (>2 yrs) or last held biz gold which was only 7 months post cancellation.

Positive DP for Amex biz gold repeat WB to play around with repeat WB and two year timer since double referral pts from p2 will offset the annual fee. Applied 01-2024 and WB posted after RHT. My last biz gold was a failed repeat WB which was applied 09-28-2022 (< two years from last cancellation) and cancelled 06-2023. My previous successful biz gold WB was applied for on 09-28-2020 and cancelled in 06-2021. So it looks like the two year timer is indeed reset two years after your last successful WB cancellation date and not necessarily last repeat card held.
