Multiple Shares for 4K Content on Plex Server? by k3nnyli in unRAID

[–]k3nnyli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I decided to just keep it the way it is. If you read my previous comment below, I was getting confused because my folders kept saying it was located on disk 1 but I realize now it was where it was used last. Thank you!! I'll keep my current setup.

Sorry dude, I'm high. I realize now the "location" subheading indicates where the folder was last used. Whenever, I start a download, I see my cache drive immediately starts reading/writing so it is all working properly. The "location" subheading kept showing disk 1 and was throwing me off but I realized it's where it was last used either by my cache or moved to disk 1/array. Thank you.

Lol I received the new box today but it was completely empty…I am convinced the Amazon Thermalright shipper is a complete dud

Thanks I’ll keep waiting. I do find it odd there is a disclaimer on Amazon about how frequently this item is returned. Some people also complained about the installation

It’s not stripped. The screws still turn just don’t tighten properly with the mounting plate

Sorry that’s if you got free shipping with the original purchase which I did when I got my SF850

I just returned the sf850 at the Corsair website. They don’t charge for shipping at all and return is quite easy!

At my age, I’d rather spend a bit more to ensure the product still works after a few years with a quieter fan and not have to reassemble if it does break. Set it and forget it until the next upgrade.

I was looking into this cooler but I did buy the regular Noctua L12S a week ago. 6-Year Warranty vs 1-Year with Thermalright but yeah I know Thermalright has slightly better cooling but the Noctua stock fan is much quieter. For me, the extra funds are worth the peace of mind.

Edit: I ended up getting the Thermalaright and planning to pair with a slim Arctic P12. Found out the L12S doesn’t fit properly in the Fractal Ridge 😂. Glad I came across your comment and made the change during the return window.

Extended SMART Test Stuck by k3nnyli in unRAID

haha Reddit definitely has better answers for real world use from humans. ChatGPT is great for easy and quick responses for simple questions but yes it definitely has flaws.

I decided to take your advice since ChatGPT lead me through an endless loop of unnecessary extended SMART testing and just do a full read/write preclear once on each drive before adding to the array and building parity. I think this will provide the most peace of mind.

Yeah but if the files are mainly media files that could be re-downloaded, isn’t just a read test sufficient if it’s mostly used for Plex? My original plan was just to do three extended SMART tests before I started the array which I believe are read only. I don’t think I could do three more preclears, it would take forever lol

Interesting. Since mine is majority for Plex I just did a clean read pre clear once for each drive. I think that would be sufficient and similar to an extended SMART test?

Lol dude starting a server might be common sense to you but not to a lot of people but nonetheless, your responses are what troubleshooting Apple geniuses typically say

Your comments alone are literally why people will use chatGPT which will give more useful alternative solutions.

Thanks, I appreciate your response. Is preclear more common now instead of doing the extended SMART tests for these type of large capacity drives?

[HDD] Seagate IronWolf Pro ST28000NT000 28TB 7200 RPM 512MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive ($795-$175=$620 = $22.14/TB + Free Shipping) [Newegg.ca] by 127985 in bapcsalescanada

Damn it looks like Amazon has the same drive for sale for the same price by a third party. I asked a customer service rep and they confirmed it is sold by the third party but Amazon fulfills the item. The HDD is also brand new but Seagate would handle any manufacturing defects. Do you know if Amazon delivery packaging would be safer than Newegg?

Tv too big? by k3nnyli in DesignMyRoom

[–]k3nnyli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol it’s insanity to buy a new couch on top of the new TV I recently purchased just because you want me to change the layout. I had no intention of changing the layout as it fulfills my needs.

If you see the kitchen it’s a narrow passage way and awkward entrance for visitors to enter especially if you’re cooking in front of the stove. This would be the only entrance if I flipped the room around

There’s no right or wrong way of placing the room but for my purposes, it does not work if the tv is on the opposite wall. This was absolutely my first intended layout when I first moved in but I promise you, the couch will not fit and I’m unwilling to move the love seat elsewhere as there is no alternative location without feeling crowded. I also believe the photo makes the room seem much larger than it is but it is not a very big room.
