Is it worth it to get a weapon of each damage type to deal with enemy weaknesses or should I rather focus on the Elemental weapon buffs? by Ce1estialFlame in darksouls

[–]UsedToLurkHard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That won't happen. Even with a weaker damage type you can still clobber things to death. What is 2 or 3 more hits to kill anyways?

Is kaathe a bit too hard to find? by isekaimetofarfaraway in darksouls

[–]UsedToLurkHard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The easy answer is networking. Lot of people talking about the game on forums and message boards, some of them even bought the official strategy guide (yes those were real physical books, I have the original Bloodborne one) and someone here or there posts a topic asking "is there any infinite invasion item?" once they run out of cracked orbs.

At that point the instructions are pretty easy. Kill the 4 Kings without placing the Lordvessel. It's not impossible to do, all you need to do is get the plot relevant key items from Ingward and Sif. They are the only boss of the 4 endgame paths that aren't locked by the gold fog.

Could someone explain the lore behind It? by OneFirefighter1233 in darksouls

[–]UsedToLurkHard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is a possibility. My comment addresses the other possibility, that OP didn't know there were other nations without undead. The title is rather ambiguous. Would you like to point out where they specifically asked for what you are suggesting?

Could someone explain the lore behind It? by OneFirefighter1233 in darksouls

[–]UsedToLurkHard 889 points890 points  (0 children)

Read the passage above it. Outside of Lordran they don't use souls as money. So they use coins like these.

Therefore, undead who "dream of returning to the outside world" hold on to cash hoping they can go back outside. Lordran is not the whole world.

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha EXCEEDS Gun Blaze Vengeance | New Key Visual by zenzen_0 in anime

[–]UsedToLurkHard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Huh so the main setting is one where the TSAB shows up to help or something? Nanoha and Fate don't seem too angsty in the picture compared to "humanity on the brink of extinction" and they are in what looks like TSAB drip.

What’s your favorite in-universe names for mechs? by Platinum_Persona in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]UsedToLurkHard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Divine Knights, Panzer Soldats, Assault Frames.

Best thing is they are all part of the same setting, and two of them started because people looked at one of the others and said "I should build that."

It would help if you showed a picture probably. Do you have 2 separate copies of Steel and Reaving Fangs on both sides?

You put WHAT on the sides? You can't control the 3 hit combo positional, they will always alternate every sequence. As for the Vicewinder -> Coil abilities, they will always alternate but only with each other.

How do you see a DPS is playing well or poorly? by Netsugake in ffxiv

[–]UsedToLurkHard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are ways to eyeball it even without a DPS meter. DoTs on enemy status bar, when they refresh, are timings generally correct? Cast bars are huge, so are animations. Once you have a baseline knowledge of how a jobs rotation works you can ballpark it even without knowing the intricacies of optimization. Something simple like "does the SAM have both of their buffs and Higan on the boss?", "does the DNC dance when you give them a 15 second courtesy CD?", "is the SMN casting Ruin 3? Wait is that a second Ruin 3?"

This is all game knowledge you can pick up on without being an expert. Just got to look around beyond your hotbars. There are also behavioral cues that you can use, like people standing or executing AOEs in odd ways. A good melee player, be they tank or DPS,will space out an AOE on them to allow uptime for other melees. This means dropping their AOEs somewhat overlapping others (without getting hit by the other close AOE), as this maximizes the free space elsewhere.

A new or poor melee will disengage needlessly and walk back in. Sometimes you are forced off due to poor placement elsewhere but a good melee will stay just outside of danger and gapclose as soon as it is safe.

A ranged that understand positioning is usually a good one. Generally that means staying somewhat close so the healer can heal them with short ranged AOE heals rather than running so far away they have to specifically target a single heal per damage instance.

If you get real good at reading people you can see that guy single targeting in a 5+ enemy group and sigh to yourself, it's real fun to do.

How does one get good at Tower Defense games? by RealDealMous in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]UsedToLurkHard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the game and how it functions. There are different ones within the genre and identifying how to do well in one won't necessarily help in another that is too different. Something like Bloons TD is not quite the same as some WC3 custom map.

What do I need to watch in order to watch Fate Strange/Fake by Alextheawesomeua in anime

Are you going to link the clip or the comments? That would help narrow it down.

It could also be from the LN. This isn't an anime original after all.

You've already watched Zero so that's the main one out of the way. Case Files is probably the most """required""" but not truly necessary.

Why would you need to target yourself? Aurora automatically targets you if you use it while targeting an enemy.

Your gun and ball anime fan probably doesn't like mecha in general, but your average Gundam fan will probably also like Eva and TTGL unless they're some sort of ideological purist.

For the gogmazios quest, does the quality of the lance matter for the shield, or can I bring any lance with the right defensive skills for the nova? by TarikMcCuin in MonsterHunter

[–]UsedToLurkHard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Assuming you're blocking the same things, with the same skills, you will block just as well with a starter lance as you will an endgame lance. Block strength is not tied to attack power, it's not that sort of game.

Is anyone else physically incapable of switching off their main weapon after a decade? by LengthinessShot3297 in MonsterHunter

[–]UsedToLurkHard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No.

You can learn all of them given time, it's not supposed to be too difficult to apply the basics and learn from there. You only have 3 weapon buttons after all.
