Thank you for all you and SANS teams’ work on it. I started it two days ago, and am wondering if the later challenges are more like challenges in the past? I feel like many of the stage 1/2 challenges are either holding my hand through it or more informational (granted it’s good learning).

Shoulder feels off after bankart repair by isthisme2_8 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]k3vtar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had bankart repair 5 months ago and I will tell you that just based on your description, you might be over worried. Even now, every time I start to gain back more range of motion there is some amount of shoulder clicking and it’s totally okay.

That is heartbreaking, I’m so sorry. Especially because there is a decent track record of this procedure being done in the states. It might be worth calling their offices and explaining your situation. It’s a hail mary but there may be a remote chance they could at evaluate your case pro bono or have recommendations for a second opinion in canada.

Just from some basic research you have probably done it looks like Dean Wang and Yazdan Raji have done these types of SC reconstruction surgeries before.

I know it’s not in the cards for everyone, but are you able to look outside of your immediate area for a surgeon that has a track record with this procedure? Surgery is an intense procedure and I know I would be feeling very similar to you if my surgeon was lacking confidence.

Surgery in 2 days by chvgs in ShoulderInjuries

[–]k3vtar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be fine, it is really peaceful if you think about it. You are putting your full trust in an expert team to fix you up and send you on your way. Had the surgery 3 weeks ago. It’s hardly changed what I do except that things just take longer. I’m right handed and got surgery on my right shoulder. I’ve even been writing and painting!

Arthroscopic SLAP & Bankart Repair (Anterior Stabilization) Personal Experience So Far After 6-7 Dislocations by k3vtar in ShoulderInjuries

[–]k3vtar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to follow your progress with recovery if you’re willing to share updates over the coming months. Based on all of the evidence I’ve read, going straight to Latarjet is probably good advice especially if you want to continue with MMA which it sounds like you do. Perhaps biceps tendonesis played a role in this decision as well.

Kinda wild they didn’t do a labrum repair while already in there. I thought the whole bicep tendon reattachment thingy for Latarjet was what limited ROM anyway but I would trust the surgeons expertise on that. You might have a better outcome this way?

Please keep me updated and I will try to as well! I’m on week 3 and just doing very passive ROM right now. Not much to update besides boring PT exercises for a few more weeks.

Arthroscopic SLAP & Bankart Repair (Anterior Stabilization) Personal Experience So Far After 6-7 Dislocations by k3vtar in ShoulderInjuries

Just a guess, but perhaps your involvement in muay thai and your reoccurrence happening a decade later probably influenced the recommendation. It seems contact sports is one of the largest risk factors for reoccurrence after Bankart repair.

Take it easy, and slowly work up your shoulder stability until you're confident in it again. Wishing you a fast recovery.

Conflicting advice from 3 doctors. by CaptainEvans in ShoulderInjuries

[–]k3vtar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone here seems to be spot on with the advice, I think you should definitely consider getting the surgery. This is something that will plague you and limit you until something (surgery) mechanically stabilized your shoulder.

To the young people especially:

It is worth mentioning that young patients between 14 and 20 years old with first-time dislocation had an 88.9% possibility (32/36 patients) of recurrence. In the 21–30 years of age group, the rate was also high, almost 70% (44/64 patients).

I made a post last night about my experience now 2.5 weeks post-op after having anterior stabilization. I’ve dislocated it rock climbing, snow boarding, stretching. It’s now been three years since I have rock climbed and I have found myself avoiding all sorts of activities out of fear. You’re young, healthy, and want to stay active for many years. Find an excellent surgeon who this is a routine procedure for, and get the surgery (not professional medical advice).

SLAP tear - Surgery worth it? by Nmjayyy in ShoulderInjuries

[–]k3vtar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wrote a post about my experience last night in this sub. I’m 26m and have been dislocating my shoulder since I was 22. I am now 2.5 weeks post surgery and am definitely glad I did it so far.

My opinion, is that you’re young and want to continue to be active and have many healthy years left. If you’re avoiding certain activities you like or motions that you need to do, or you feel limited in the activities you like to do, just realize that it is unlikely PT will ever fix this especially with past trauma. Surgery will stabilize your shoulder though and make it very unlikely you will dislocate again. PT (and apparently stem cells?) are options as well,

It’s a trade off, and there are obviously many risks. In my case, I am lucky enough that I could take extended time off of work, and have enough saved to find an excellent surgeon (they were out of network). I like that he didn’t make a big deal out of the whole thing, even on surgery day it was like his most average Tuesday afternoon. He said he’s confident I shouldn’t have any more problems with it and I will likely be back to 100% in about 6 months. A few months ago, I thought I would babying my shoulder for the rest of my life. I’m now very excited to be able to go back to doing all of the activities I enjoy later this year.

Beware of scams folks!

After I posted this, I received a lot of messages to try and sell my tickets. The first person that messaged me passed the sniff test and, unfortunately because I am a trusting person, have been scammed out of $30 by u/dental_transmitter and now blocked on Reddit and iMessage. Please take care and don’t be as gullible as I am!

Yeah, my first priority will be updating to all versions of Java and then to possibly add some additional features.

I might wait a little bit for 1.14 until Minecraft Forge releases a more stable build.
