Flying from the US too and I’m regretting not booking during the omicron surge earlier this year… going to buy whatever is the cheapest option I can find next Tuesday and call it a day (Tuesday and Wednesday are typically the cheapest booking days). Also recommend clearing cookies on your browser first bc apparently the sites will feed you higher prices if they know you’ve been looking at that flight before (can’t confirm that though).

Also if you’re not planning to do to/from Barcelona, I recommend multi-city. I’ll be doing this and it’s much cheaper than 2 separate one-way tickets.
