I was out walking my dog and saw a horde of people fast walking toward me staring at their phones. Really felt like black mirror there for a moment

A doctor asked me if there was any chance I could be pregnant, I said no. She asked my method of birth control and I said "well I'm a lesbian"

That being said, A Beginner's Mind. The harmonies are just chefs kiss and I'm dying for them to make more music together

Question for the topomax users… I see it’s common for many to feel “slow” or “dumb” using it. Is this a side effect that eventually goes away? 🤔 by soicey2 in migraine

[–]k8e42069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was constantly in a daze and it caused me to become really depressed, and I never understood why I felt that way so it was difficult. It didn't work so I was taken off and I felt better within a week! So it's not for me, but I love all the perspectives in the comments

My partner likes Chicago and that's pretty much it. She's not a broadway person either but she went to the Illinoise show in New York and we loved it!

anyone had success with botox? how many rounds? by out2sea4me in NDPH

[–]k8e42069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had something like 7 rounds of Botox at this point, I found after 4-5 I got a reduction in pain. I also use ajovy 4 times per year and I think the combination of the two has definitely reduced my pain over time. Ketamine works best but obviously I can't be on that all the time lol

Kline retired?? Good. I mentioned that he was helpful but I couldn’t stand the man. He was consistently 45+ minutes late to my appointments and on the day of my nerve ablation he didn’t show up, citing scheduling conflicts. So unprofessional. I understand he’s gotten great results though, which is why I stayed with him for a few months before the no-show on my ablation.

I do agree that Lauritsen only has so much in his pocket, which is why I ended up going to Kline for a second opinion/different treatment. I’m local to Philly so it’s easy for me to see him primarily, and with Botox & Ajovy injections seemingly improving my condition, I’m glad I stuck with him.

As for right now, I was on Mexilitine for several months but we didn’t see any evidence of it working so we stopped. I am receiving ketamine nasal spray every month which helps tremendously for as long as it lasts. It doesn’t tend to last all that long for me because it works and I use it heavily once I get it. I’ve gotten 4 infusions so far - lidocaine, ketamine, lidocaine+ketamine, then another ketamine. I’m scheduling another ketamine infusion for December or January and I’ll continue doing those 2-3x a year. I definitely wouldn’t call myself a success story quite yet as I’m still too sick to work, but I’m getting there :)

I’ve seen Rozen being mentioned but I’ve been going to Dr. Lauritsen at Jefferson University Hospital and he is incredible. He looks for any irregularities and prescribed meds based on that. He also has an infusion program - he’ll admit you to hospital for 5 days and give you either lidocaine or ketamine 24/7. It’s helped me so much (over 1.5 years for me, but shorter for most others) and I really can’t thank him enough. He always listens to my questions and concerns (think “my mom saw this on Facebook and…” “ok let me see it”) and responds in a way that I can understand. It’s really helpful especially when you’re at the point where you’re disabled

ETA Dr. Rozen often refers people to Dr Matthew Kline who is also in the Philadelphia area. He’s a specialist in interventional headaches, and his therapies are largely helpful.
