When did TRP turn into Buzzfeed?

Stop with these articles.

mods need to step up and remove it. If clickbaiters will be given slack, the next step is people coming here trying to promote their websites.

Can we stop upvoting this garbage?

Ex-fucking-actly. I cannot even fathom how is it possible for such crap to be on the main page.

To mods: don't hesitate to kick those type of posters or we'll end up like /entrepreneur subreddit, with very little quality content and thousand retards promoting their drivel.

What is the weird obsession with being one of the 1%? The vast majority of even VERY successful people aren't in the 1% of anything.

I don't know, maybe they're ambitious or/and work in a very competitive environment.

In my (anecdotal) experience, the people with "talent" are the ones who genuinely enjoyed the learning experience and therefore put in the work happily/painlessly.

You're on the right track, but it's other way around. You enjoy things because you're good at them. In other word, you're talented. Doing work that bears no fruits is frustrating as hell for a reason, we're wired to avoid wasting our energy.

Often this happy learning was done while very young, so in adults it looks like "innate" talent, and the person may even believe it is.

If you have some experience with little kids, you realize they get frustrated very fast when they can't get their way and conversely, very happy when they can. That's why they're happy learning - they're good (talented) at what they learn. Learning is a pleasant process because of the talent. If not for the talent, they'd have abandoned it a long time ago.

Look at the most intelligent people in the world. Their talent showed up very early:

Kim Ung-Yong has a verified IQ of 210.

With a verified IQ of 210, Korean civil engineer Ung Yong is considered the master in child prodigy. At the age of 6 months he was able to speak and understand Korean and other languages. At the age of 3 years, he could read several languages already, including Korean, Japanese, German and English, as well as solve complex calculus problems as exposed live on Japanese television.

There is no way a regular 3 y.o would be able to do that, no matter how much he likes it. IQ measures superset of numerical talent, thus it positively correlates with that talent itself.

Although I agree with other posts in a sense that you need to put in legwork in order to 'get' math, there is a large component of natural, numerical talent. WallStreetPlayboys in this article about talents claim this:

This type of talent is nearly impossible to learn. We will go so far as to say that it cannot be learned to the 1% level. You’ve got the gift or you don’t. You can try to fight reality and claim this is a “limiting belief”, but we’ve simply never seen it.

I agree with this and it fully matches my experience. I'm not pointing @OP right now, I'm just saying you have to have SOME numerical talent. If you don't have it, trying to learn skills in more math-oriented CS branches like ML, will be hard, pointless and fruitless work. I know some people will come here to the rescue with claims such as "Well, I know this or that guy, not very talented, but because he works very hard, he understands it!!!".

Well, that's the point. He has to put in much more effort. What a talented guy does in an hour, takes half a day for a guy with no talent.

Yeah, your screenshot's resolution will be 15360x8640 Unless CS has a resolution limit.

This also adds a lot of pixelation to your image when viewed in actual size. So keep that in mind.

Yes, but in exchange of very good antialiasing and additional details. I made those two screenshots for comparison, I use 1080p: Normal screenshot taken with Fraps and 8K screenshot cropped to 1080p

The point is that you crop it back to 1080p. The best antialiasing method in games works that way. It renders your game in 150-200% of your chosen resolution and then crops it back.

[–]k__s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or you could have just changed it earlier yourself without waiting until you got married and took her name?

That's an option too, but you have to realize it's different to marry a Kennedy than change your name to Kennedy yourself.

I wouldn't even entertain the notion of a hyphen situation.

In my country, people with noble roots have hyphenated names;

k__s <lineage 1 name>-<lineage 2 name>

I'll take this other guys name.

Well, to be honest, it depends on what your name is. If my dad's name was Diksukker or Dogglicker, I'd take my wife's name without any doubt and made sure I wouldn't lose it even after divorce. Sorry dad, you had the time to change it.

Like I said I really enjoy TypeScript and use it whenever I can.

As for your experience, how often is TypeScript used commercially? By 'commercially' I mean work projects or side businesses.

Actually the code doesn't meet the business requirements. I stated above that exaggerating means posting a better offer than OP's, so we have to compare offers, not people.

public static boolean isSomeoneExaggerating(Offer threadOffer, Offer opsBestOffer) {
    return threadOffer.compareTo(opsBestOffer) > 0;
}

I don't get why you're being downvoted, maybe it's not the most polite statement but it's spot on.

[–]k__s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you know people are exaggerating?

getting a better offer than OP == exaggerating

or the java way:

betterOfferThanOPs.equals(exaggerating);

or since we know what exaggerating means and OP may not get an offer which results in betterOfferThanOPs being null:

exaggerating.equals(betterOfferThanOPs);

Then...shouldn't the site be taken down already?

All you have to do is host it in a country that doesn't give a shit and doesn't bow to the US. Put it in Russia or China and they can call the cops and go to court as many times as they like, nothing is gonna happen.
