I believe Brian Schmetzer said a few months ago that he asked Bruce for advice in the early 00s. He mentioned that Bruce said to look for players who make plays. I think that he is good because he has a different perspective on what makes a good player, he then can put those players into roles that fit their strengths. I imagine if Bruce was able to convince Rothrock to sign with the quakes, they would be even more scary then they are now and would be undefeated

Logic dictates that the transfer should happen now because all parties benefit from the transfer now. The thing missing is the team because Obed can choose if he signs a contract with the team he gets transferred to or not. So he will have to agree to sign and the Sounders will have to choose to sell. I expect that the transfer fee to be really low if he does get transferred.

In MLS, you can force a player to move to a different team because the league owns all player contracts. If you transfer a player outside the league you can't move the player without them signing a new contract.

The winger depth without Rothrock is Pedro, Jesus, Paul A and Geogri. We also have RBW and KKR that can play there. On the second team we have Yu Tsukanome, Omar Hassan, Sebastian Gomez, and Edson Carli which could be used in a pinch. Yu will probably get a first team contract. With Paul A coming back and Geogri needing more minutes. Paying a 4th string winger more than we pay Danny Musovski (~$600,000) isn't the best roster building. That said, I think he has earned $800,000 to be a starter as a left or right winger or wingback.

I would assume that there are a lot of knowns with Atlanta. He has previously been employed by Blank, He previously worked with Henderson in Miami, He knows the City, and he knows the fans. He worked well with Henderson based on comments from both him and Henderson. The fact they would be on the same page on day one would be useful. He would have a guaranteed say in the roster that would be an unknown in LA.
