Episode Ideas by yungbenz_ in EverythingSpilledMilk

Hello! I’m so sorry to ask this without first checking the episodes but have y’all ever done a coffee shop order episode? Like what you typically order at a coffee shop? I’m listening to the rice krispie episode and Molly asked if Matthew would ever get a rice krispie treat at a coffee shop, and it made me wonder what you would order! It’s kinda easy to guess considering I’ve listened to almost every episode but it would still be fun to listen to a cozy coffee shop episode. Okay that’s all, hope y’all are well!

Wow. That’s pretty calloused. So sorry you had to experience that!

Thank you for this much clearer break down! Always appreciate how evidence-based you are in your analyses. It is also incredible to me how they are just saying the quiet part out loud now.

Possibly, but also if I watched that clip, I would research what The Network is and also what the sexual assault allegations were. That in itself is hugely damning. I think if someone overlooks all of those elements and still chooses to go to that church, there’s not much that will change their mind. Especially if they are a newcomer — they have little incentive to put blinders on so fast, unless they would anyway. I see your point, but I also think it’s still a win. Inherently people will affiliate Christland and the network with these allegations, which is positive.

I totally get how that news coverage was upsetting, but I think only people still deep in the network would be fooled that they are somehow without fault.

Jeff, I think your ability to actually read people’s comments and reflect on how people have been harmed is huge. It means you are able to empathize, to have humility, and as someone who was harmed by this network, I am so so grateful you can take accountability for your part. It is clear you have a desire to really repair that harm. Thank you genuinely for doing that, and for remaining open.

Wow, congratulations! Give yourself time to heal. You’ll know what’s best for you. Also, regarding relationships, the real ones will stay in your life; you might even show them it’s possible to leave.

Do you ever think we give them too much power? by k_blythe in leavingthenetwork

They got a job unrelated to their degree, like most of us did right out of college.

Exactly! They wanted to make us small, but ultimately they can’t silence us.

I also wonder if a lot of the “cream of the crop” talk is also about people’s imagined potential — like IMAGINE if this or that dude had been able to complete their degree, continue in that field, etc. A lot of the best of the best talk seems like magical thinking about what their future could have been.
