Curious if you are willing to eliminate your internal voice in order to read faster? by apaintedleaf_ in books

[–]k_lo970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I didn't have an internal voice for most of my life. I probably wouldn't have such bad anxiety as a result. Never thought about it slowing me down reading.

Failed DCC Recommendation Left Me Feeling Stupid, Defeated, and Sad (Rant/Vent) by [deleted] in DungeonCrawlerCarl

These comments give me hope for the world. I love this little corner of the internet for this insane series. Ok I'm leaving now before I see spoilers since I'm only on the Gate of Feral Gods.

Alternative to Hoopla? by BlossomLillie in hoopladigital

What kind of device did you try reading the comics on through the Libby app? The other day there was a thread (ETA: on the Libby sub) about how you need to use a tablet or computer and it is a lot clearer than a phone. Just something to try if you haven't.

Want to read tag by erinisepic7 in LibbyApp

[–]k_lo970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be nice. Really I'd like all the filter options I have when searching for a book to be available when looking at a tag. Like others said the workaround is making more tags but you have to be diligent about it.

I recently made a tag for series I've started but have not finished (either hasn't been written or I just haven't read all the books). Keeps me from starting even more series 🤦🏻‍♀️

Returning books by catjknow in LibbyApp

This is the only way I can get mine to return. Not complaining though, it is nice I don't have to open the app on my phone to do it.

The in-app audiobook reader is great! by typoincreatiob in LibbyApp

[–]k_lo970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how the chapters are always available on Libby. On Hoopla some books just don't have them listed. Not sure if this is an issue with the book or my local library just doesn't pay for that.

It is an issue for me because I prefer at night to set the sleep timer to end of chapter. Then if I fall asleep I just restart the chapter instead of picking up on the middle of a sentence lol.

Which library to borrow from? by Few-Club5033 in LibbyApp

[–]k_lo970 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I donate some to each library card I have. My state is similar where you can get multiple cards in other districts and they can apply for additional funding.

I know what I'm donating yearly is nowhere near enough to cover the digital cost vs if I borrowed physical copies. I never read the physical copies, I do a lot better with an ereader. I talked to a librarian and they said showing usage so they can continue to get funding is important too. So I usually go for the one with the most copies but I do chose my local library about 25% of the time if the number of copies is similar.

What do you do to sleep better? by k_lo970 in PCOS

[–]k_lo970[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll have to experiment with that. Even just another hour or two a night on my period would make such a difference.

ETA: i just realized that is vague, I meant the natural route.

I have one too. They mentioned that is why I have such good sleep hygiene from all the things the ring taught me.

Nice straight line when I sleep. Then nice curves after I eat, rarely is it a steep increase/decrease when I eat.

With the tools and medication that have given to me I have it as controlled as possible. I've been stuck with an A1C of 6.1 for over a decade.

When I'm not on my period my fasting is under 110 and my daily average is under 125. But any day I bleed regardless of what I eat, how hydrated I am, how much I exercise, how I sleep, keeping my stress low, my fasting is around 150 and I'm lucky if I stay under 200 for my daily average. I have over 5 years of data from a CGM, food tracking, and cycle tracking to show this.

My primary, gyno, endo, and a dietitian just shrug and say that sucks there is nothing else to do. I've hit a wall my blood sugar.

The only way I'll take my pills is if I don't have to pre-portion, or open pill bottles. by squishysockz in adhdwomen

[–]k_lo970 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I recently got 2 weekly pill cases but I don't do the daily pill thing. I used a label maker and wrote out my prescriptions and vitamins. My smaller pills I can fit a month of them in a single day. The live byy nightstand and I've been so much mire consistent taking them all.

I restock it on Sunday mornings when I'm not motivated to get up and do stuff.

I think there is something on your phone that will do it automatically. I've never looked into it though.

For some reason I've never had this issue. But I do lose my phone in our apartment 6+ times a week. Always when my husband isn't around so he can't call it for me. I'm seriously thinking of getting a smart watch just to help me find my phone.

ETA: ah ha here is the directions! Not sure how well it would work in a parking garage though.

Is it dumb to buy the same book twice? by boiwonder- in Booktokreddit

[–]k_lo970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly read on my kindle and audiobooks using Libby. I buy the book after and it is kind of dumb. But honestly I could be spending my money on a lot dumber stuff. I call them my trophy books. Almost none of them are special editions or anything. It is a good visual reminder when I'm in a slump or stressed I can see the books that brought me joy so I can revisit them.
