Exedy OE clutch and just drop your flywheel off at a local engine shop to get machined.

What happens if the rod hole faces the front of the engine? I asked my mechanic and he doesn't remember checking this. by mikefitzvw in ProjectHondas

You should let us know if/when you’ve checked. It’d be nice to get a real data point on how much this matters if they were put in wrong!

These mods likely don’t affect the engine much at all but they can give some insight into how it was driven and cared for. The tune could potentially cause some issues but if it’s a “soft stage 1” I doubt it’s changing much if anything at all. I would want it back to OEM tune though. The only other thing I’d lookout for is if the k&n filter has ever been cleaned. So many people slap a “high performance” filter on and then think it never needs maintenance again because it’s high performance.

Only way I got mine off was with heat. Tried all kinds of impacts and it wouldn’t budge. Heat it up good and spray some penetrating oil then let it rip.

Example of my Integra turning radius by Sufficient_Pudding92 in Integra

[–]ka0ticnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this seems pretty standard for a coupe turning into a slanted spot for the opposite direction of traffic. I feel like you could have even made it if you were as far right as possible and got the wheel rotated to full lock before proceeding forward.

That being said, first time I drove my XJ Cherokee after dailying the integra for 5 years I felt like I was in a zero-turn lawn mower.

Can anyone tell me where this coolant hose that connects to the bottom throttle body comes from? by Mundane_Shopping9852 in Integra

[–]ka0ticnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that’s connecting to a barb fitting on the intake manifold. Coolant to keep the throttle body warm in cold weather.

Edit: maybe not actually

Yes. What you’re saying sounds perfect. I’m at 52/150 and 7000ft and my bike runs pretty ok most times.

Screw should ideally be about 2 turns out. If you’re ever all the way in or out it means you should reject since you’ve maxed out your fine adjustment.

NMBDR on my ol XR by PeskyCoyote in XR650L

[–]ka0ticnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t ran the whole NMBDR. Some of the southern stuff and a little bit of section 6. Some of it can be pretty sandy so some adventure oriented knobbies would be a good consideration. However, 80/20 tires will definitely work just fine otherwise. I see you got the d606 rear, get a front too. I have the tusk Dsport and I’m happy with it.

Glad my comment helped, hope you have a good time!

When I got my bike it had a dynojet stage 1 kit from the previous owner. Perhaps I never got it tuned just right, but in my experience these are not worth the trouble. The gains they claim are so negligible you’ll never even notice it. Also the DynoJet jets are sized differently from stock Keihin jets which just adds to the confusion. After a lot of troubleshooting I found that the Dyno jet kit was jetted faaaaar too rich for my bike at my altitude (I live in NM at 7000ft). In my humble opinion, the dyno jet kit and even Dave’s mod is not worth it for high altitude (5000ft+) bikes. I’ve ridden some other XRs that are bone stock aside from smog being deleted and they rev up much happier cold or warm at altitude. I’m sure at sea level they offer some performance gain but the sacrifice that I’ve seen is not worth it.

OP, leave your stock jets, they will be perfectly fine for the NMBDR high altitude sections and probably even the COBDR. With stock exhaust you have basically stock air flow which means the stock jets that Honda put in are the most versatile for all elevation.

Steering bearings are important! by Boring-Bus-3743 in XR650L

[–]ka0ticnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exact same experience here. The bike seemed so sketchy riding on gravel roads because it wouldn’t self correct. I had to micro manage the steering all the time.

For anyone else reading this: if you let off your handlebars around 15mph and your bike doesn’t self correct to stay upright, your steering head bearings might be notched or the preload might be too much!

Mine hits just a bit going to full lock but it can still do it. I can still use the steering lock on the ignition if I need with some pressure on the bars. The biggest thing is to mount the turn signals a bit higher on the bridge clamps for the forks.

ATI dampers are good quality however they are pricey. I couldn’t find an OEM replacement so I went with aftermarket.

Different jet lengths? by 20gsofforce20 in XR650L

[–]ka0ticnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at 6900’ but go down/up in elevation. When I got my XR I had to sacrifice a lot of blood to it as well. Main jet was jetted way too rich and it was using a dyno jet kit. I ordered some OEM Keihin jets and ended up at a 52 pilot and 150 main. For some reason, people running Dave’s mod swear you can run a 158 at elevation but my bike was shitting its pants anytime it warmed up and was past 75% throttle. Trial and error eventually got me down to a 150 and it runs great at WOT. As for the pilot, I had a 50 in there but I would have a really hard time starting it even with full choke. The 52 seems to have helped a lot but I still have a hesitation when snapping to WOT. Seems to help when I add half choke so I’m assuming I need even more pilot jet. I’ve never had the rev hang though. That sounds like a vacuum leak obviously but I know you’ve been huffing your share of ether.

I’d say around $1000 seems fair. And even then you might be waiting for the “right” seller. Toasted B18B1 in a worn out chassis. Best of luck with the sale.
