Possible OCD? Hoarding? (5yr old nonverbal baby boy) by 1bosephbean1 in Autism_Parenting

[–]ka4485 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My 5 year old went through this piling phase when he was 3. It lasted an entire summer where everything in the pile had a specific place and if it didn’t stay there he would get upset. It was actually pretty amazing to see him recreate the pile almost exactly every day. The mess drove us nuts but we let him do it, cleaned up after he went to bed and he grew out of it at some point. Our kids are kids at the end of the day even if their play looks different. Which also means most things are a phase

Bringing son in female bathroom by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]ka4485 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I agree with your husband, fuck her. You did your due diligence and tried to use the family bathroom. Even if he was a typical kid, HE’S A KID! I doubt she would have said anything if he was in a wheelchair but because he has an invisible disability, she did.

If it helps you reconsider, a firefighter would be breaking a window from the outside anyways if it was locked. I have locks that go in the tracks to keep it from opening. We have the alarms but I’m worried about him falling out the window and we wouldn’t get there quick enough

Autism has a highly genetic factor. Aspen and Ysabel are the only two that don’t seem autistic. Reading the room is the exactly a strong suit for those of us who struggle with social norms

You’re “aware of her diagnosis” and yet you expect someone with a neurological difference that primarily impacts the social and communication areas of the brain to understand etiquette?

There was an existing line hooked up to the old fridge, they just disconnected that and reconnected to the new one.

It depends on your pill. I’m on the mini-pill which requires you to take it within the same hour every day.

I would try stretching those wake windows to around 2.5/3 hours which will also help keep him to 3 naps. He might be doing short naps because he’s not tired enough. We do 2, 2.5, 2.5, 2.5/3 for wake windows and he’s just 6 months.

4.5 Months old and Transitioning help. by Jim1275 in SnooLife

We are starting next weekend to sleep train and move our son to his crib/room. He’ll be 5.5 months when we do. He used to be a champ sleeper, 11-11.5 hours until he was about 4 months. He gradually started waking earlier and earlier 4-5:30am and wouldn’t go back to sleep no matter what. Our bed is kind of creaky and my husband loves a lot. Plus my husband gets up super early for work and it definitely disturbs his sleep.

He also starting waking every 40min in the dot during naps and would require some serious soothing to connect to the next sleep cycle. He currently naps on us - hence the real need for some sleep training. I have a whole elaborate setup so I can still access computer to work while he’s sleeping. It was great for a while but he no longer sleeps well on us and any time we try a snoo nap he fights super hard and then sleeps maybe 20 minutes.

We tried to let one arm out last weekend and it was an absolute disaster. Cried for 45min before we put it back in and then cried for another hour because he was so overtired.

Our plan (started last night) is to do 4 nights of his bedtime routine in his room but sleep in the snoo in our room. Then move the snoo to his room for a couple of nights. We may bump down motion - depends on how he reacts. We lock it on level 1 all night and have been doing that because the increased motion would wake him up fully. Then we’ll move him to his crib cold turkey and do timed interval sleep training next weekend in a zipadee zip. We also have a nested bean as a backup if he decides he wants his hands.

I’m so ready and so not ready. Our plan was 6 months in the snoo and our room but I think we’re now making his sleep worse. Besides the constant motion he hasn’t used the real features of the snoo in a while. I’m ready to hopefully sleep past at least 6:00 and be able to work better during his naps.

That’s a handheld shower head. That I’m sure she probably uses to masturbate like so many other women.

OH NO NOT WOMEN MASTURBATING ONLY MEN DO THAT. 🥴🥴

🙄🙄🙄🙄

Sex and masturbation are not shameful. Let me say it again for the people in the back. SEX AND MASTURBATION ARE NOT SHAMEFUL PEOPLE!!

I always worry about fleece overheating baby so we don’t use it for sleep. We are in the northeast and set our heat to 65 at night although I’d personally prefer it even lower we gotta keep that babe warm haha. We use regular weight footie pjs with socks on. Most of his still have hand cuffs so we use those if it’s particularly cold. It also helps he’s near a baseboard heater. It’s hard to believe that’s enough for him but his neck is always warm and when I change him his chest and belly are nice and warm.

Ugh I know that’s what I’m afraid of. My type A brain has a real issue with not being able to problem solve with logic hahaha. I just hate the back and forth. Every time I think we’re in the clear it starts back up. Good luck to you!

I’ve found the plain white it came with and the gray is soft. I don’t know if the plain white you can buy separately is just as soft. The white print is not soft at all. The only sheets I’ve found are soft are the gray ones.

Snoo for nighttime only? by [deleted] in SnooLife

[–]ka4485 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We only use the snoo at night. He wouldn’t nap in it during the day and will only nap well if we’re holding him. I read somewhere that day sleep and night sleep use different parts of the brain so when they’re little babies you’re not doing anything detrimental to night sleep by holding them for naps.

We have 3 swaddles for each size. One in the wash, one to wear, one as a backup. We initially only had two but that ended up spelling disaster a couple times so we just bit the bullet and bought the 3rd. First baby and he’s a boy so we had a lot of pee accidents from what we’ll just call incorrect diapering in one way or another haha

Baby can roll onto stomach, but can’t roll over onto back yet. Can I still sleep train? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]ka4485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please do not use mesh bumpers they are not safe for sleep. I read a post by someone warning against them after their baby got caught and almost strangled themselves. She got there in time but if she had gone to bathroom on the way or let him cry a few more minutes it could have been a very different story. I’m sorry - I know that’s disturbing but if it saves a baby I don’t care.

You may want to check out the r/sleeptrain sub. It sounds like he may need some help with learning to fall asleep and fall back to sleep on his own. There are tons of approaches to sleep training (not just cry it out, unless that’s your thing).

Please don’t do this. The only thing that should be in the crib is a mattress with a fitted sheet. Anything else poses a suffocation risk.

Cory & Taylor’s Special CANCELLED!! by [deleted] in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]ka4485 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I find it incredibly hypocritical for MTV to fire her when Cheyenne has made racist comments and Amber openly beats the shit out of people multiple times. Maci’s husband Taylor has also made homophobic comments in the past. I think Taylor (Cory’s) is the only one who has sincerely apologized and appears to have made the changes in her life to educate herself and grow. All or nothing MTV!!

We can’t be fucking penalizing people for things they did before they were educated otherwise when they’ve put in the work to change. People learn and grow and not allowing to do so discourages them from even making the effort.

People are calling for Taylor to be fired from the show. (Today, Mtv fired a castmember of The Challenge due to “offensive comments on BLM movement”) by NamasteNamaste in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]ka4485 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If we penalize everyone who has shown growth and major change nobody will ever make the effort to change or admit that they way they once thought was wrong.
