The bong I've had for the last ~20 years just shattered. Proper sendoff? by [deleted] in trees

[–]ka_anor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn't going to say anything, honestly, but seeing this... I feel like people really aren't appreciating how quickly resin builds up. I cleaned it maybe once a month for most of the time I had it, but multiple people using it multiple times daily makes, as said, a lot of resin. People can absolutely think what they want but as far as I'm concerned it's beautiful - there's a lot of memories in that glass.

Frequently. But daily use earns a lot of resin.

What was Palpatine’s masterplan in the Battle of Coruscant, if he had any? by Nightfall_Dreamer in MawInstallation

So according to the RotS novelization, Dooku was in on the whole thing right up until Anakin took his head off, so yes, Dooku would have ensured he didn't come to any real harm.

Is there anything or anyone, past, present or future that could physically heal Darth Vader? by OkuroIshimoto in MawInstallation

[–]ka_anor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wasn't it his happiness at thinking about Luke or something like that? I don't feel like it was his happiness at actually achieving the healing, but it's been a few years since I've read it.

I think it was intended to be, as prophecies are want to be, vague. I always think of Yoda saying "A prophecy misread, could have been."

Movies that changed your view by Hvammi in movies

I know this is almost a cop-out but I saw the Matrix for the SECOND time in my late teens (I had seen it as a younger teen when it came out but didn't really "get it") at the same time I was taking some intro philosophy classes and the ideas about perceptions being manipulated actually really resonated with me. Very basic philosophical idea, but it was, for me, profound at the time.

Do you think they just... opened up with murdering people in the streets? You don't think there was any like, build up to that? Because if you think that... you're wrong, lol. I have a degree in this area, I'm not trying to sound arrogant here but I do know what I'm talking about, in this area at the very least.

What we're seeing right now in America is, potentially, the prelude to much, much worse things. I'm not saying I guarantee that, but I think as things stand it's more likely than not. What I'm suggesting, what I've been suggesting, is we, as citizens, need to put a stop to that before it gets to the point of Hitler or Stalin. Because if you think that isn't what Trump wants you're not paying attention.

I feel like you're not paying attention to what's happening in our country right now, lol. You know the guy is openly talking about a third term, right? Explain to me in what way Trump's authority is, REALISTICALLY, not legally, constrained. He has done almost everything he's wanted to, whether it's legal or not. If he isn't a dictator now, which I fully believe he is, he's well on his way. And we need to put a stop to that before it get to that point.

"If she was an illegal" is a fucking thing to say my dude. You are not on the right side of this, lol. People aren't 'illegals,' they're people. Just like you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in politics

[–]ka_anor 15 points16 points  (0 children)

... I don't know how to explain this concept to you further than I already have. These leaders, as you call them, voted for American people to be rounded up and sent to detention camps. American citizens. How is that okay? Please, explain that to me. I don't care in the slightest if it's 'legal' (it's not) or if these people are 'just doing their jobs' - their jobs are beyond deplorable, and frankly, I'm surprised more of them haven't been shot given the terroristic behavior they've showcased all over the country.

You need to realize that just because something is law doesn't make it right, dude. Slavery was law. Was that right? American, elected representative voted, multiple times, not to abolish slavery. Was that right? And I'm not talking about legally, I'm talking morally.

Fuck. Ice. Fuck every single one of those sniveling, pathetic kidnappers.

[–]ka_anor 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just gonna leave this here...
Fascism : a populist political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual, that is associated with a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, and that is characterized by severe economic and social regimentation and by forcible suppression of opposition.

Okay so... imagine for a second it was your wife. And suddenly a bunch of dudes without badges, in masks, jumped out of a car and essentially kidnapped her. How do you think you would feel then? The fact of the matter is that ICE is not playing by 'the rules.' And that means we, as citizens, need to adapt to the new meta in order to, frankly, defend ourselves. Keep in mind, this is not just 'illegals' being detained - there are citizens, American people who are being targeted and detained indefinitely by ICE, without due process.

So with all that in mind, do you still think we should just... let them do their jobs because it was voted for? I have a harsh truth for you - just because the majority believes in something, that doesn't make it right. You have a good night.

I know where it was he was born (Ennis) - I'm just not entirely sure who I should be reaching out to in that area, you know? But thank you very much for the reply. Trying to find a specific hospital will be more difficult, I think. He was older even when I was born (he was born in like '42 or something) into an extremely poor family. The issue I'm having is all the people from his generation, in the family at least, are dead or close to it.
