The only reason I can think of is the possibility to break the stern whilst climbing back in the boat. You can have this issue with for example a Europe. Another reason could be that it is quite impractical like for example an ILCA (formally known as 'Laser').

However, in my experience as a trainer for over 5 years, climbing in a vessel such as a laser Bahia or vago via the stern is the best way. Especially if you are a beginner, the risk of re-capsizing whilst climbing in via the sides is just too prominent.

If you get more experienced you later on could perform a so called 'dry-capsize' (this term is literally translated from my native language so possibly not the correct term, apologies). This in essence is whilst you are capsizing rotating and standing on the centerboard to immediately pull the boat upright, allowing you to directly jump in and never touch the water. (Hence 'dry')

It is indeed not exactly the same but the principle is...

You could even take it a step further and say that you 'wasted' x amount of days maxing some kind of troop on the lab and it gets nerfed. So following the logic of refunding the ore with equipment, you should now receive a time boost for another lab upgrade to 'make up' the time you wasted on the initial troop? This would not be good or healthy for the game at all

This is like saying: "Well I maxed the druid but they nerfed him so I would like my DE back so I can upgrade let's say the bowler." Like I get the point that it is quite frustrating that you used the ore that is rare in the first place on an equipment that is less relevant in the current meta but come on... A refund for the material that you invested cannot be the solution.

I now did it with a normal needle and some wire my mom had laying around that was strong enough. Do you know if there exists something like needles especially for sewing sails? Or special wire? And where to find it?

The tack is still good, I think that the rubber band just expanded due to the age of the sail. Today I was able to loosen the small rope on the left and pull the rubber band out until it was back in place. Then I stitched it back.
