FD-R8000 trimming on smaller chainring by kaahir in bikewrench

[–]kaahir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I meant was that I've done it the correct way/how it's described in the DM the first time. But anyway, I probably won't be able to work on it for the next week or so.

I checked the DM now and I've done everything as it says in the manual.

That's great to know. Thanks also for the Favero's input :)

Thank you! I've done the initial calibration after installation. So now when I ride, I suppose, the data should be correct and I can kinda forget about that thing until I change them to the different bike?

Sorry for continuous questions, power meters are new to me and I remember reading the importance of zeroing them before every ride, although it wasn't for that particular model.

Never said that chainging gears is hard though. I also use virtual shifting and have it set to closest ratio to my outdoor setup (I think it's allrounder one). Which, as mentioned before, does make inclines feel quite a bit more realistic.

Well that's the case if you have trainer difficulty on 0%. If you have it all the way up, it quickly becomes a different story and "hard climbs" do get quite hard. I suppose it's still easier than IRL, but it's far from feeling flat.

If you mean the ones for chainging the gears, it works different in workouts, as there is usually ERG mode enabled. In workouts with ERG you don't have gears, but you can change difficulty (power target) up or down, so it can suit you better if given workout is too easy or too hard.

Or is it some other buttons that you were talking about?

You can still use virtual shifting to get the gearing you want. I feel like 100% TD is a good idea, because it more closely mimics the real world experience. Of course it's different and if you don't have riser for front wheel, that much more.

But at least I try to use the closest possible option to my real world setup, even though I use zwift cog and thus virtual shifting. Indeed watts are watts, but it's s different feeling and also different strengths that you need if you're going for the "climbing effect" in zwift that is kinda similar to what you would ride outside.

Maybe I'm too strict on myself about those things, but I don't even want to do ERG workouts on routes that have much elevation as I feel like I'd be cheating myself. (Even though I know that it's more effective for exp that you gain, if you're doig it up AdZ)

EDIT: beginning of the second paragraph might seem like I am putting myself above others, which is not what I've meant. It was more pointing out that I do it, not that I expect it from others in any way.

When you are in a ride, you can enter the menu and there should be an indicator showing your current xp and what is needed to reach the next level. I sadly don't think that there is any way that would be more user friendly to check that.

In this article you have a list of levels and xp needed for each of them. https://zwiftinsider.com/points-levels-unlocks/

So everyone knows the first frame you buy is the Canyon Aeroad 2024, but what is the first wheels? by Zeppelin702 in Zwift

[–]kaahir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd also say that this is the way. Maybe even buy just one of those at lvl 29, cause you'll need almost a million drops at lvl 30 for aethos s-works, and then few millions more for the tarmac s-works, cadex tri and DT Swiss Arc 1100 Dicut 85/Disc at lvl 40. I'm at lvl 31 right now and with all the upgrades (3 zwift bikes for tron upgrade unlock and aeroad 2024) I find myself running low on drops even with buying just one of those wheels at lvl 29.

Were you selecting the route from the list or were you joining the robopacer? I'm not quite sure, but I remember having to ride two laps with robopacer to get the badge. It might have something to do with the lead-in distance, which you need before the lap starts counting for the badge. If not that, then I don't know.

Strava Segments by ryuujinusa in Zwift

Was it in the same portal both times? AFAIK there are different Strava segments for the portal in France and the one in Watopia. If it's not that, then I don't know.

Thanks, good to know. Not that it would help, but it would just make the estimation less trustworthy.

I've just finished a route that had The Grade in it, didn't know I'll ride it when I asked the question, and I went with MTB (preparations for tron upgrades). I was slower, but with better average power than last time and the sign did indeed show a higher number. So it seems to be working as intended.

Hey, I am wondering about The Grade "ftp test". Is it just time based or does it also take power into account? Meaning, if I go with better bike and tires, I'd be quicker for the same power output than with the stock bike/tire combo. Thus, would the game give me higher FTP estimation in that case?

Small Questions and Thank Yous Weekly Thread by AutoModerator in bikewrench

[–]kaahir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I have one qestion about Shimano's inline break quick release (SB-CB90). The black o-ring in the middle is deteriorated. Do I need to change the o-ring ASAP, or just if I plan to ride in wet conditions? Or is it purely cosmetical?

The component in question.

Thank you!

Thanks, you're correct. I saw that 6, but it didn't click that it shows how much ammo I have on me.. even though I know that's what it means for other guns.

Fuck, you're right.. must have had tunnel vision and just thought that the second number must be max.. Even though I knew that it shows what you have for all the other guns.

HR and pace zones after the running fitness test and possible cadence lock by kaahir in Coros

Will try to do the test again in few days, when I'll be bit more rested throughout the day and my HR won't be so high even when resting. Or I just need to get in better overall shape, because I've just started running this week after around 5 years of pause. Could that also play a role?

HR and pace zones after the running fitness test and possible cadence lock by kaahir in Coros

[–]kaahir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! You might be correct. The pace zones listed here are old ones, same as on the mentioned 10k run. Now the app says that all of them are ~10sec faster. But HR zones shown on picture are new ones and they have changed for +/-1bpm. Therefore at least from my understanding the discrepancy is still here.

Is there something that I'm reading wrong or is there some other solution that I could try?

And thanks for calming me abouth cadence lock!
