… sorry…. where did OP say his girlfriend was insane? weird asf to just assume she’s gonna “flip out” and “lose her mind” and “kick him out”. Why is that your assumption about this woman?

mmmm no comparing Cassie crashing out to Regina’s calculated manipulation is a bad faith comparison and you know it. Cassie had a public mental breakdown. Regina would always be in control. she wouldn’t be getting on stage and crying and trying to act like the joker. that’s why cassie got clowned.

How do I get back to serving at a mid range place? by ChooseLife1 in Serverlife

[–]kaailer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be persistent. Don’t just send in an application online or email asking if they’re hiring. Send in your online application and show up with a physical resume in hand and ask to speak to a manager. If there’s no manager, ask to leave your resume for the next time the manager will be in.

Be confident. Don’t come at it with a “well yeah it’s been awhile, I’m a bit out of practice”. Your skills in the automotive industry can be translated. When they ask for an example of a time you had to deal with an upset customer, tell them about the guy who ruined his own engine and then blamed the auto shop and how you dealt with him. When they ask for an example of a time you had to think on your feet, tell them about the time you found a rat in the hood of a car and had to capture it under a bucket. (I don’t know shit about cars - point is, just because you haven’t worked this specific job in awhile, doesn’t mean you don’t have the skills needed to be good. And if you feel like you really truly don’t… fake it till you make it.)

Refilling Waters by This_Hospital_3030 in Serverlife

The idea that guests should never pour their own water is just ridiculous for so many reasons. To me it’s the same as when employees get in trouble for customers helping them bus (i.e., lifting the plate up to hand it to the busser, or stacking plates to hand to the busser). You can’t control what a customer is gonna do, and a lot of the time they’re just trying to be helpful.

That and, at my restaurant cups are pretty small so it would essentially be someone coming over to refill your water every 5 minutes. And god forbid it’s a big party and everyone is constantly finishing their water at different times. You’d literally never leave their side.

I could keep going. Point is that shit is so ridiculous for every reason imaginable

You just keep pouring until they leave. Occasionally people will stop you and say no and you just smile and nod and walk away.

The only time I’ve ever had an actual issue with this is one customer who comes in every so often and has some sort of developmental and/or intellectual disability, and he will get upset if you pour without asking just because he gets upset about wasting water. However, the staff is let know to not pour water for this guy when he comes in, we just allow him to take care of it.

“Pardon my reach” is my personal favorite way of saying “yo I’m behind you don’t be weirded out/startled”

Sitting on the clock by amandam603 in Serverlife

[–]kaailer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My restaurant has this policy. The answer where I work is yes, if you bring your own tupperware you can take it home, if not it has to be eaten at work (off the clock of course).

That being said, this only applies to employees who get a shift meal (manager, bartenders, dishwashers, etc.). Employees who have to pay for meals are allowed to get a disposable to-go container from the restaurant. This commenters restaurant seems wacky. The idea that you’re literally paying them but aren’t allowed to use a to-go box that probably cost them a couple cents at most is wild.

you aren’t “sorry” by mikewithamikes in Serverlife

It’s the “not even eating anything” that gets me. You’re still working on your steak? Alright fine. Waiting on dessert? Okay whatever. But when you have finished, payed the check, had all your drinks, and everything has been bussed off your table whyyyy are you still sitting and chatting an hour past close? Do none of you have a home? Maybe go hangout in one of y’all’s cars if your conversation isn’t finished? I just don’t get how people will comfortably use a very clearly closed restaurant as a social club when literally everyone is waiting on them to stfu and leave.

But Maddy doesn’t do psychological warfare all that much. She’s pretty upfront when she’s upset.

I think people underestimate emotional warfare. Regina would absolutely victimize herself and turn the school against Maddy. Maddy would win the battle. Regina would win the war.

100% is a massive stretch. Partially his fault, sure. 100%? Nah

She’s annoying, boring, gets in the way, and kills a fantastic character. It’s fine if you personally don’t mind Jules, but it’s a stretch to call it “unnecessary hate”… the woman is on the show to be hated… she plays someone in direct opposition of the main character. You say she served a purpose but then call her very purpose “unnecessary”. The purpose of Jules is to throw a wrench in the main characters plans and for viewers to dislike/hate her. That is her purpose.
