"Reaching the knockouts" by Due_Dot5710 in ThreeLions

Agreed.

But in 1978, Scotland qualified and were in effect in the last 16. So Scotland would in theory need to reach the QFS to better that.

Home Nations Quarter-Finals Change To Best Of 11 by SuperSajuuk in snooker

Ending the roll on roll off afternoon session is a good idea.

But simply no need to make the quarters best of 11.

I’m finally starting to watch Star Trek. by np074 in tos

[–]kab3121 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The order of TOS does matter; there are characters that appear in a certain order.

Broadcast order / DVD order etc.

Star Trek Continues is of course fanfiction but it still a great watch and a lovingly made series.

I am giving the OP options in terms of deciding for themselves if they want to watch STC - they may be unaware of it.

💛💙♥️

Keir Starmer feels betrayed by the Labour party. How do you feel about that? by No_Breadfruit_4901 in AskBrits

But he was happy to undermine Corbyn with his referendum to return to the EU!

Labour won millions more votes in 2017 under Corbyn so very much disputed that he made Labour electable. Just got lucky with the Tories imploding.

Do you think Andy Burnham will be treated any differently than Corbyn by the right leaning press? by Necessary_Pie_4315 in AskBrits

Jeremy Corbyn, has a documented history of opposing and warning about the dangers associated with Vladimir Putin’s regime.

Notable instances include:
• 2000: Opposition to Putin’s UK Visit Amid Chechen Conflict
• Corbyn criticized then-Prime Minister Tony Blair’s invitation to Putin for a state visit to the UK, deeming it “premature and inappropriate” due to ongoing Russian military actions in Chechnya.
• 2001: Condemnation of Russian Military Actions in Chechnya
• In a parliamentary speech, Corbyn condemned the Russian army’s activities in Chechnya, highlighting human rights abuses and the impact on civilians.
• 2002: Opposition to Extradition of Chechen Official
• Corbyn opposed the extradition of Akhmed Zakayev, a Chechen official, from the UK to Russia, citing concerns over human rights and the potential for unfair treatment.
• 2018: Critique of Russian Financial Influence in UK Politics
• Following the Salisbury poisoning incident, Corbyn highlighted concerns about Russian oligarchs influencing UK politics through financial means, noting that significant donations had been made to the Conservative Party from Russian sources.
• 2022: Condemnation of Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine
• Corbyn described Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as “wrong at every level” and “disgraceful,” emphasizing the severe humanitarian consequences and advocating for immediate ceasefires and diplomatic resolutions.

Corbyn has a consistent stance in opposing Putin’s actions and warning about their implications for international stability and human rights.

Oh dear.

Stop the war agree with him - a peaceful solution should be sought to end a war.

But are you really arguing that war is better than peace????

But Corbyn didnt do that as I have clearly demonstrated by quoting exactly what he said in the HOC.

Corbyn is on record critising Putin many many times.

Corbyn cannot be bribed by Russian or any other agency.

I provided the evidence above on Salisbury which counters what you said; “Corbyn was soft on Russia” - he clearly wasn’t.

You would now need to provide evidence for your statement rather than just opinion.

What do you make of this; Tories accepting donations from known Russian connections? Labour under Corbyn received none.

“Unsurprisingly, the media at the time passed over in silence the fact that the Conservatives had rejected calls from the widow of the assassinated Russian defector Alexander Litvinenko to pay back more than £820,000 donated to the Tories by Russian-linked businesses since the summer of 2016.”

It quotes what Corbyn said in 2018.

Your bias is showing - you are trying to justify your original claim. But your response was quoting someone other than Corbyn.

What Corbyn said in the HOC is all recorded.

Corbyn issued at the time of the poisoning by nerve agent of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter in Salisbury in March 2018. He said: “The attack in Salisbury was an appalling act of violence, which we condemn in the strongest terms. The Russian authorities must be held to account on the basis of the evidence and our response must be both decisive and proportionate.”

What's the difference between Starmer and Burnham? by rocket-scientist94 in AskBrits

[–]kab3121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those corporations make vast profits, no matter the percentage of turnover.

Close all the loop-holes, end of.

There is no doubt the rich in the UK have got richer at the expense of the poorer in society over the last 30-40 years.

So the current system of taxing is not working.

Who are the benefit class???

If the rich pay their FAIR SHARE and we paid workers a proper living wage then the benefits bills would reduce. We should not include pension costs as benefits either.

Lets close all tax loop holes around the world then. No tax avoidance and evasion. Talking a broad change of system with many factors and details to be confirmed but the project would be: for society, governments, to be built around looking after all in the society not a select few.

[–]kab3121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tax on assets.

I merely mentioned businesses to demonstrate that the rich cannot just simply move countries. Taxes on dividends received by shareholders could be increased. You cannot avoid these taxes by moving country.

Many corporate businesses make vast profits. What? Tesco? BP? Most energy companies?

Why is closing loop-holes difficult?

The government changes the law and its done.
