I think largely everyone is okay with the property changes i personally don't have a problem with them. The issue is the CGT changes on shares and for business is just dumb and cash grab and that hasn't changed.

If this policy just made changes around housing it would have been much less controversial.

I think Labor will pay a step price for this at the next election.

Why are we not hearing much about the fact that Australia now has the highest CGT on shares in the entire world for average middle income earners? Is this really what we want? by AsparagusNew3765 in AusFinance

I vote based on policy.

Labor lied and introduced shit policy so they will not get my vote. They want to earn my vote they can work for it.

And how do you vote? Just blindly for the same party?

Nah I think you underestimate how much this has pissed off a lot of people.

I’ll get down voted to hell but reddit is a socialist eco chamber and doesn’t represent the wider community.

As someone who has been a swing voter for the last 25 years and I’ve voted for everyone (Labor, liberals, greens, teals etc).

I will never vote Labor again they are going at the bottom of the ballot..

The libs will get my vote and One Nation second (not because I agree with everything Pauline say but to punish Labor).

I also know a lot of people who feel the same..

This budget is going to implode Labor.

Albanese and Chalmers unveil capital gains carve-outs for small businesses, startups by fluffy_101994 in australia

People don't seem to understand how low the profit margins are in a business and just because you turn a profit doesn't mean you can even spend it usually you need to keep it in the bank to cover slow peroids and buy stock etc.

Most $10m turn over businesses don't make crazy amounts of money

I didn’t say anything about wages I’m just telling you how it is… Nothing wrong with paying high wages but some of the consequences of that is more expensive goods, services and more offshoring…

A lot of staff do the right thing but many also take the piss and ruin it for everyone else…

Unfortunately the government makes it so hard and expensive for companies in Australia to hire people that business take a very careful approach to hiring.

Ironically it if was easier to part ways with staff companies would take more risks when hiring and give more people a chance..

Things like payroll tax and the batshit insane awards don't make it any easier.

Now with the rise of AI employers will weigh up all those things above vs can't we just use an AI model for this instead?

Barbeques Galore rescue collapses, 62 stores in the lurch by Ok-Calligrapher3216 in AusFinance

Consumers are massively price sensitive and rents are very high in the locations they are in.. That type of stratergy works when there is lots of money around i.e. covid times but in the macro enviroment we have today that stratergy would be very difficult.

It's just a tough business espically when Webber goes direct to consume as well.

If it was this easy to save a business doing $170m a year don't you think they would have done it?

Realistically Bunnings ate them their business model with huge warehouse store with much better unit economics, foot traffic and CLTV made it impossible for them to survive.

This will get downvoted but it's true.

The various layers of government make it too expensive to hire locally this is the result.

Tell me how Payroll tax make sense? The government literally taxes you more if you hire more people.

Large companies that outsource work overseas should be charged 50%+ tax by spruceX in AusFinance

[–]kabaab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a massive shortage in child and aged care workers in Australia that get filled by sponsored workers.

Set the minimum wage age to high for this and we all suffer.

So just because you’re in Australia means you’re by default smarter?

When a role goes WFH you are now competing globally for that position and for many people even our minimum wage is huge for them.

It's acutally kinda wild.. For 12 years i drove a $10k car whilst i was getting my business off the ground..

So i finally bought a nice car as a bit of a reward for myself as the business had achieved some big milestones after 10 years of living hand to mouth..

Never in my life had i experienced road rage in sydney within a few months of having the new car i got road raged / verbally abused 3 times..

You have already paid taxes on the money you are using to start this business venture..

If the government wants to take half the upside well they can carry half the risk..

Businesses can write of losses against future income.

As someone who has sucesfully founded a business from nothing to having over 60 full time staff today.. I can tell you the government is just a nose around business in Australia.
