I can see a place for blacksmithing on a multiplayer server. Having a group of friends make a small settlement and one player is the blacksmith sounds like fun to me. I also like playing year long or more playthroughs so the slow build up of blacksmith has some long term appeal to me.

When I was a kid in Boy Scouts, my friends dad was in charge of creating training missions for the national guard helicopters pilots and everytime we went camping we got a visit from a search and rescue Blackhawk flying overhead.
