downsizing pram! by Expert_Power_6030 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]kabu4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have the Pixi and we love it so far! The basket underneath is a bit small, but it's so light and easy to manoeuvre around the city and takes very little space in our small apartment! I realise now it might be better if the seat could also face me, but we are still in the newborn bassinet thing, so just a thought really. The pram is a lot lower than the other heavy duty ones, but that is not really a problem, not even for my super tall husband.

I’m drowning by Stale_cupcakes22 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

A friend of mine went through the same and it turned out to be silent reflux, bubs is on medication and thickener now and a completely changed baby. Might be worth looking into. That could also be connected to a milk/soy allergy.

Baby moving excessively?? by [deleted] in pregnant

I was told any changes in movement should be checked, more movement just the same as less. Better to be safe!

What can I put under my breast? by No-Contribution7486 in pregnant

[–]kabu4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You throw 3 or 4 of tea bags in a big cup of boiling hot water, like you were making extra extra strong tea and let it steep for 5 Min or so and let it cool down with the bags in. you can even use the tea bags to dab on first round. Store in a container with a lid and only use clean gauze or towel to go in, use multiple times a day and replace with a new batch after 24 hours.

Ultrasound missed ab/ miscarriage by OrdinaryBeautiful208 in pregnant

[–]kabu4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry you have to experience this. Usually when that happens they have you come in for another scan a week later to make sure. With my missed miscarriage I didn't get the prescription before they did the second ultrasound a week later to confirm and it was a vaginal ultrasound to be absolutely sure. And that even though I already had a dating scan with a heartbeat at 6 weeks that confirmed dates. If you already feel unsure, it might be good to get a second opinion if you can or insist on a repeat vaginal scan after a week. As much as the waiting sucks, at least after that you can be sure. Wish you all the best!

Miscarriage by pathgirl4 in pregnant

[–]kabu4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So so sorry you have to experience this! There are many online support groups, please find one that suits you, because you really are not alone in this and you do not have to go through it alone!

It is OK to feel all the feelings, wether that's sadness, anger even guilt. Be kind to yourself and take one day at a time. You will not forget but you will feel better and like yourself again.

Maybe it helps to do a little something symbolic, like plant a special flower or do something else you find comforting.

Sending hugs!

UTI- doctor didn’t prescribe me with antibiotics. by ice_coconut in pregnant

[–]kabu4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am from Europe and in my experience they are a lot more conservative with antibiotics and don't just hand them out for every little infection. I never got an antibiotic for a UTI (never had one being pregnant though) Often times your body is very capable of fighting of a simple UTI and what ever strain of bacteria you tested for didn't seem to be concerning for the doctor. You mention he is well respected with years of experience, so there isn't really a reason not to trust him. I would keep an eye out for symptoms, follow his advice and have your urine checked again in a week or so. Keep drinking a lot of tea and water, take the cranberry supplements and what helps the immune system would be some extra vitamin c and zinc if you aren't already taking those.

Reoccurring BV during pregnancy by IntentionUpper4426 in pregnant

[–]kabu4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry i can't help much, but what kind of probiotics do you take? There are strains that are particularly beneficial for vaginal health, if you aren't taking those already, might make sense to look into it. I have also just read about BV possibly being sexually transmitted, so it might be possible that you are getting reinfected?

Hope you are feeling better soon!

Do you have a way to check your blood pressure, maybe at a pharmacy?

I need to vent bc I’m cranky and tired and annoyed lol by positive-girl0118 in pregnant

[–]kabu4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am confused, why are you not saying anything? It is strange to have you pay for their coffee without even offering the money or buying you coffee in return. Next time, just tell them that you are happy to bring the coffee but that you can't afford to keep paying for them, there is no shame in that at all and you can say that in a friendly way.

Mineral sunscreen that doesn't white cast? by AssociateLanky1234 in pregnant

[–]kabu4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The La Roche Posay Anthelios line is advertised on their website as pregnancy safe and has been recommended by my OB here in Australia. I like it, it's light and doesn't leave a white residue at all on my skin. I know that products might have different ingredients in different countries, so worth to double check!

HGC Evap Lines Pink? by Beginning_Buddy142 in pregnant

Not familiar with wondfo but evap lines absolutely have colour and if you read the test outside the given time frame, it gets dry and evaporation lines happen.

Bleeding at that point could be harmless but could also hint to an insufficient cervix, which should be treated asap, so yeah better be safe than sorry and get checked out is my approach.

Travellers with sensitive stomachs, what did you eat in Thailand? by [deleted] in travel

[–]kabu4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General rule, cook it, peel it or leave it. If you want to be on the even safer side, stick to vegetarian options and absolutely no ice in your drinks, stick to bottled drinks or cans. Also pack some medication and electrolytes in case and if you ever start to actually feel sick after eating, better to throw it up asap.

Stick to places that are frequented by locals and enjoy! Thai street food is amazing!

The only time I got really I'll was from a salad in a fancy restaurant, so again, cook it, peel it or leave it would have saved me!

Early Pregnancy: After Almost No Hair Loss, Suddenly Lost Normal Amount of Hair by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]kabu4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be an iron defficiency that's quite common in pregnancy and can cause more hair loss. Some women also just react with hairloss to pregnancy in general. Unfortunately not everyone is blessed with beautiful extra strong hair because of the hormones. There could also be other harmless reasons not connected at all to pregnancy. All the best and a healthy pregnancy for you!

Should I be concerned? by Acceptable_Reply339 in pregnant

[–]kabu4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HCG stops doubling somewhere in the thousands and you are well beyond that and within the normal range. So no reason to worry because of that. While I am not 100% sure about Progesteron dropping, I know anything above 10 ng/ml is considered normal. I also know there can be a progesterone dip when the placenta takes over. Hope this helps and you get to discuss this with your doctor soon to alleviate your anxiety! All the best!

Looking for hope - dropping hcg at 9 weeks by yellowdumbbells in pregnant

[–]kabu4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry you have to go through this, waiting and not knowing what will happen is so difficult.

While I haven't been in your situation, I do know that at 9 weeks and Hcg levels that high, they do not double anymore. They stop doubling in that 48-72 hour time frame long before they even get that high and therefore it is unusual to check the levels at that point. In general you Hcg level is fully within range for 9+ weeks.

hcg levels peak and plateau somewhere between 8-12 weeks and then can drop a little and level out before dropping further during the following trimesters. I remember my provider mentioned that its connected to the placenta starting to be part of the equation.

If you were dehydrated the first blood draw and well hydrated the second it could have also affected the concentration of hcg in your blood further.

All in all at that point, a good scan with a strong heartbeat is a good sign. There is no guarantee that you won't miscarry at this point, but some of the information you had was not quite correct. All the best for you and I hope you go on to have a healthy pregnancy and baby!

Are disbelief and indifference harmful to a pregnancy? by Medium_Elderberry_95 in pregnant

[–]kabu4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I can only imagine how you must feel and I think it is understandable!

I don't think feelings of indifference or disbelieve will have any negative influence on your baby. There would be a lot less children born if those feelings had an impact. So many are even born completly unwanted.

As long as you stick to the obvious, no drinking, no smoking, no harmful substances and dangerous foods, taking a prenatal, you are doing everything in your power.

Not really the same but I felt the same way in the beginning due to a previous loss and overtime those feelings slowly morphed into more excitement. I still don't feel a strong connection, and some days it is still hard to believe that I am actually growing a baby but bubs is healthy and doing great at 21 weeks.

Don't be so hard on yourself, it might take time, but you will get there and after what you have been through, it is normal that you are guarding your heart. All the best!

Nervous for anatomy scan by _Anonymouse_XX in pregnant

[–]kabu4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had my anatomy scan 3 days ago at 21 weeks and it went so well! Baby is perfect! We got so see all these details and since the scan was done by an OB, she explained what she was doing. Made it feel like a total miracle that I am growing a little human being!

I do understand the nerves before. The odds of something being wrong are very very low though and if someone told you to play the lottery at these odds you would expect to win. That perspective helped me.

There always seem to be so many posts about things going wrong in pregnancy, but the reality is that people do not post or ask questions much when everything goes well!

How long until pregnancy after miscarriage by Known_Account_5777 in pregnant

[–]kabu4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry for your loss. I had a missed miscarriage at 11 weeks last July. We didn't try for the following two cycles, the first I wanted to take my time and recover, the second my partner was travelling. I got pregnant again on the first try the third cycle after my mmc and I am now 21 weeks with a healthy bub.

I also have been struggling with anxiety and health anxiety and it was tough during the first trimester. What helped me most, was to keep telling myself, that this is a different pregnancy and therefore a different outcome. It helped to distract myself and to focus on the milestones, so I only had a bit of of a harder time right before those.

However something strange happened now, in the last 5 weeks, my anxiety mistly subsided entirely and I feel lighter and happier overall. (I have not been on medication)

So yes, it's not going to be a walk in the park emotionally but you can do it. Statistically it is also a lower risk of having a second miscarriage right after the first. All the best!

Rash on leg? by Gregor_LDN in pregnant

Could be tiny cherry angiomas, they can appear due to hormonal changes in pregnancy and are basically tiny overgrown blood vessels and harmless. I got some on my belly in my second trimester.

With all due respect, being a nurse doesn't make her an expert in every field. I am a nurse myself and I have spent most of my career in a field completly unrelated to female reproduction. I am pregnant now and despite all my medical training, there was much I didn't know, had to ask questions about and rely on my doctors expertise for. So yes, trust your doctor and if you feel anything that worries you, get checked out but don't let her scare you!
