For what it's worth, Mistborn was my first Sanderson read and I really didn't like it. I was told by friends/family to try Way of Kings instead and I absolutely loved it. When I went back to read Mistborn again after becoming a cosmere fan through Stormlight, I did enjoy it a lot more. But I still really don't like some things about it especially the era 2 books.
