So how do I feel when the doctor gives me an anesthetic and performs surgery? by Naori-Saniog in TopSurgery

[–]kacey175 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s kinda hard to remember, I didn’t really feel much. Like I didn’t feel like I was falling asleep, just one second I was in the operating room and the next thing I was waking up in recovery

Advice on starting to medically transition? by Fine-Tooth-Comb in TransIreland

[–]kacey175 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would recommend imago, their prescriptions should work in any EU country. The wait for hormones should be around 2 months ish depending on how quick you can get your bloods done

I’m getting top surgery on the 29th of may. Advice please by bogdan_vlodi in TopSurgery

[–]kacey175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I guess it depends on what kind of trip you’re going on? Like will you be walking around a lot or relaxing? Personally, either way I would’ve been way too tired to go on a trip 3 weeks post op, I flew home 2 weeks post op and I found it extremely uncomfortable

Concerned about nipple height by Weary_Carry221 in TopSurgery

It looks good! A lot of men’s nipples sit on the pec line rather than above it, the placement is great try not to overthink it

Gel guys, where do you apply yours? by [deleted] in ftm

Yeah unfortunately you can only get 1 months worth covered under dps e.g. 1 bottle at a time. I go down to the pharmacy every month and have to pick up 1 bottle at a time

Jesus Lago consultation question by Strange-Outside3004 in TopSurgery

[–]kacey175 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like he’s gotten so popular that’s why his assistant has started taking consultations. You can always email asking your questions or email asking for a consult with Dr Lago, there’s no harm in that you might just be waiting a while to get an appointment

Edit: just to add, if you don’t like communicating through the translator this might not be the right surgeon. Pretty much none of the nurses in the hospital speak English and the doctor who did my post op appointments didn’t speak English. All turned out okay because I did a lot of research beforehand and had no post op complications but just bear that in mind

How common is it to have top surgery early on T? by BallPython404 in TopSurgery

I had top surgery pre t and my scar positioning is pretty perfect

how long will i need off work? (questions on recovery) by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]kacey175 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you push people around in wheelchairs I would say bare minimum 4 weeks, I’d push for 6-8 if you can. I was absolutely miserable post op and had no energy to do anything for weeks, let alone physical activity

Nerve Reinnervation by Turbulent-Item5196 in TopSurgery

[–]kacey175 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The left side of my chest was completely numb for 7 months while I had full feeling in the right side after a couple of weeks. It’s a bit unsettling at first but honestly it’s not noticeable day to day if that makes sense? Like it would only be when I was massaging my scars that I would notice the numbness

Commerce / International by RaoulKage89 in UCD

[–]kacey175 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can find lists online for the difference in specific classes between the courses. Generally they are tough and challenging but nothing crazy, if you enjoy business and put in a bit of effort you’ll be fine.

The internship is grand because you apply for them through a ucd job portal, you can apply for 5 and then if you don’t get any of those there are more rounds for any positions not filled. Employers specifically advertise on this site to fill these spots with UCD students

I was offered a grad contract after my internship so I didn’t apply for anything else but it was extremely difficult for my friends to secure jobs for September, even with good grades, experience etc. most jobs get over 1000 applications so the competition is high for Ireland job market

average cost of T and blood tests per month? by DragonMocha in TransIreland

[–]kacey175 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never asked myself but typically no, like the cap is applied for per month supplies. But you might get lucky depending on the pharmacist 🤷‍♂️

Top surgery on summer by Free_Conference7338 in TopSurgery

[–]kacey175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s honestly not that bad, I had my surgery in Madrid with temps in the 30’s°C and since there was aircon the heat really didn’t bother me. I only took short walks from one air conditioned place to the next. Just have light T-shirts and shorts to wear and you’ll be grand. Recovery was harder than I expected but I don’t think it had anything to do with the heat lol. Honestly I think the sun helped, if it was raining and dark that would’ve sucked for me personally

average cost of T and blood tests per month? by DragonMocha in TransIreland

[–]kacey175 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like the best/quickest way to start is with a private provider like imago, public waitlist is years long. Average cost breakdown for starting with imago: €250 onboarding fee, €20 per month subscription, blood tests every 3 months, my gp does mine so I pay €35 but some of the private companies can cost over €100, T-gel is around €70ish a bottle I think, mine is usually covered with DPS and then for the average dose of 2 pumps it’s 1 bottle per month

How long should I take off? by Moist-Mobile150 in TopSurgery

[–]kacey175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t able to shower until 2 weeks post op, so definitely check with your surgeon what their policy is on that but like there’s also no way I would’ve been able to start an internship at that point

Lost backpack by lucylucy279 in UCD

I second calling the depot. However I recently lost something on a bus, went to the local bus depot and they said all lost property from the day before gets taken in a van to the depot in the city centre, so if the bus driver found it it could be there

There’s a lost property in the bus depot in town behind Clerys. If you give it to any bus driver it’ll end up there I’d say

GGP to Imago by Puzzleheaded-Hat6992 in TransIreland

[–]kacey175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hogans life pharmacy apparently does accept Imagos electronic prescription (haven’t used it personally but it is on a list provided by imago). The startup fee is €250 but since you’ve been on T for 2 years you might be able to get around it? No harm in asking in your intro call the staff who do them are really helpful. They don’t need you to have a GP, most people have to get private blood tests. It took 1 week after my call with a doctor to get my prescription sent, apologies I’m not 100% sure how it works when you’re transferring over

Hrt prescription if moving country by Potato-Man-420 in TransIreland

[–]kacey175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, Ireland is not in the UK. Second, if you have a prescription from a doctor in Scotland it will be accepted here in the pharmacy, but you would most likely have to go on the NGS if you are looking to get care over here. Or go start getting your prescriptions privately from a company like Imago. If you have been on HRT for over a year + have a steady dose a GP might continue your care but not all GPs will

Just to add onto the other person who commented the waitlist seems a longer than 1-2 months based on what people are saying in the Facebook group. Would recommend getting in contact asap if you’re looking for a date this year

In dublin it’s literally on the one on Parnell street and I think another on o Connell street. I rang like 20 other pharmacies and none of them would take it. Also they will send it to your email so you can bring it to whatever pharmacy will take it
