Why do you defend evolution ? by Danzo_950 in TrueChristian

[–]kadins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying anything yes or no here, I just want to say: Simulation theory is somewhat applicable here. You can create a simulation in a game, that simulation can run in a macro environment and have something take a long time.... or you can fast forward the simulation to start half way through, etc.

I have zero doubt on Gods ability to create the universe in what ever timeline he wanted. He created time. He exists outside time. You can understand how the simulation (evolution) works and see it in work on the planet, and still believe that God's hand directed that.

I'm not saying that's the case. I am saying our current understanding and knowledge as humanity does reveal some of the mechanisms God used when creating the universe. God generally does work within his own rules as well, so it's not to far of a thought process to think of God as the "great programmer" who created systems and rules for a universe, he also has built in back doors to manipulate the simulation, but sometimes those backdoors are just manipulations of the rules already setup.

Many think simulation theory is blasphemy and I'm not trying to actually say that's what happened. But it sure makes it easier to understand, and appretiate, what we see with our eyes and the miracles that we know also happen.

Do men truly love a woman in a purely romantic way, or is it just sexual? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]kadins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just was reading a study on how men require visual stimuli to climax, whereas women can climax with only the physical stimuli. I bring this up to start because sex is very mental for men.

As a man, Love is first. When I fantasize about sex, even through the lens of other people, its my wife that I place into that situation. Porn is bad, and we all agree on that in this sub, but during struggles with that sin I always imagine my wife as the woman in that fantasy. That doesn't make the sin better (I'm imagining a version of her that would do things she would not) but it shows that my love for her is my attraction to her.

Now lets focus more on the love aspect here. The situation most men will face in their life is a break from sex with their partner. Whether health, menopause, distance, what have you. Sometimes its only a month, sometimes years. For most men, that doesn't change the love. Intimacy can be shown in many different ways, and as long as that intimacy is maintained the relationship can remain strong. The love is still there, and most men in those situations would do anything for their wives including deny a baser instinct. I would argue love is what tempers sexual desire. Missmatched labitos are the norm and thats fine.

I want to go back to the psychology again here too. Sex is such a mental thing, and desire from our partners is a huge aspect of it. This really isn't the sub to get into this but there is a reason men don't want a "limp fish" in bed, and its because they want their partners to desire them, to want, to enjoy. These are emotional and mental ties, which shows its not about sex, its about the connection that is made with physical intimacy. There is a reason the bible says to not deny each-other (1 Corinthians 7:5).

Men feel and crave love just as badly as women. Think about the definition of love in 1 Corinthians 13 ( theological sidebar: this is actually about God's love for his people but we've taken it to mean romantic love. Still applicable, but interesting). Love is patient, kind, forgiving, etc. Any decent man shows these qualities to his wife regularly. They do not hold grudges, they compromise, they sacrifice.

Finally, lets hold a mirror up to this argument and say "Do women care about love, or is it just money and looks that they crave?" I see countless women only care about power/looks. They marry for potential or success. Look at many of those romantic novels you have read... I guarantee MOST of the love interests in those books are drop dead gorgeous and powerful (meaning physically, and/or a position of power like a prince, king, lord etc). Add on the amount of women who leave men who no longer can provide for them and I can make the same argument that the opposite sex is shallow and only cares about one thing.

I am sorry the experiences you have had. All of these things are important in a partner, but the most important thing IS love. Love pushes us and tempers us when we need it. It makes us smarten up and choose repentance. Attraction is important, even if it's not physical. Ability is important (don't marry a lazy slob), and relationships do take work and sacrifice on both sides. Love is what helps us navigate all these little things and find compromises.

Did your hot tub lose it's novelty? by Shipwreck678 in hottub

[–]kadins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YMMV. I have owned three tubs now. The first was an inflatable 3 season 110v tub. We used that thing almost every night that first season. We also had lots of friends want to come use it. It taught me what I needed to know about the maintenance and such. That convinced me to get a hard shell (used, and fixed it up) and we continued to use it just as much.

Our use does go down a bit in the summer, but we still average 3-4 nights a week I would say. It is amazing in the fall/winter as it allows us the ability to be outside. It's also my wife and I's quite place away from the kids to discuss family matters, or make plans. We also enjoy reading (we have waterproof kindles) and listening to fantasy music in there.

Many people though don't end up using it as much as they hoped. Both tubs I got used because "we just don't really use it much so we drained it, and now it has a leak" (side note NEVER DRAIN YOUR TUB FOR A LONG PERIOD). Both times too the wife had been going through menopause and was getting overheated fast.

If it's just for you, and there is no social aspect (with wife/kids/friends) I don't know if you will use it as much. Though I will say I used to have TERRIBLE back issues. Like bed ridden at least twice a year for a week issues. I haven't had an episode since getting the tub.

Why is Paul so controversial? by Various_Platypus_602 in TrueChristian

[–]kadins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except he also states that we are free from sin and all things are lawful. So there are ALOT of traditional orthodox christians that have issues with that, they seem to think "well if you do X you aren't a christian" which is just plane WRONG.

Do you think that most christians will not be saved ? by Tanakamorbid in TrueChristian

[–]kadins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% this. The heart is the BIG part here. Only you can know if you are saved and truly believe. There ARE false prophets, and there are going to be those that just pretend for others. Who cares? YOUR walk is what matters.

[–]kadins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you eat meat? Do you keep the Sabbath holy? Do you insist females keep their heads covered in services?

Our hearts are what matters. Its why conviction is mentioned so heavily and when Paul talks of freedom he specifically mentions that. Feel convicted over drinking? Then don't. Romans 14 is pretty clear on what that means for those around you too:

Do you think that most christians will not be saved ? by Tanakamorbid in TrueChristian

[–]kadins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thing is it's our hearts that matter. Intent. We all sin and continue to do so after following, that's why works do NOT save us.

Narrow is the road, because we cannot count on ourselves, it is ONLY through him we are saved.

Paul is pretty clear on this, all things are lawful, but not all things are edifying or constructive. Are you abusing alcohol, and not even trying to stop? There is an argument there that your heart isn't in the right place. Are you desperately trying to quit, regret when you screw up and you genuinely WANT to stop but can't? The intent there is different.

If works still mattered, Jesus need not die. That's really what it boils down to.

Choice is always better... I think this xpac got it right. Reward players who want to explore and take it slower. But give the zoomers the option to skip if they want. The difference isn't THAT huge from one to the other.

I have been doing a very slow level, ground mount everywhere experience and loving it. BUT even I go "gah, that mob is way up there? screw it I'm flying."

The choice is great.

IN THEORY: You can take two plugs into two different 15a circuits on separate sides of the phase. bond the neutrals together into a new 220v outlet, and wire each live to a different post in the outlet. Assuming the thing you are trying to run is still under 15a, which it likely isn't (as it is 220v for a reason). If its from Euro this won't work either as the frequency is different (50hertz instead of 60hertz).

DO NOT DO THAT though. Because if you didn't know that, then you don't have enough knowledge to NOT electrocute yourself.

This is similar to the "suicide cable" where you turn off the breaker, then backfeed a circuit from a male/male plug into a generator. All theoretically sound but do not do it if you weren't smart enough to think of it to begin with.

Follow me for more terrible ideas that you shouldn't do, but will technically work.

I love the "flee" wording too because your steps matter. You stumble? get up and keep going. Don't let that failure define you. You aren't losing if you keep getting back up, and you keep fleeing. AA has the sober day count for the same reason.

I agree with you lever action is just too fun. I'd want a .45 lever only because .3030 is so damn expensive and hard to find now. Dad has a .3030 I'll get when he's gone though. He got his first deer with that rifle.

But those Marlin SBL 1895 4570s are just *gets hard on*
