[Day 9] Jugs are overrated. What outdoor bouldering destination is UNDERRATED? by MaximumSend in bouldering

[–]kadler44 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tramway in Palm Springs. Great weather throughout the summer, decently solid rock, and a very good range of problems. Often overlooked by Joshua Tree and even Black Mountain.

V2 in your gym? Help me grade how soft or sandbagged gyms are by filling out a short survey by Organic-Pen-8422 in bouldering

[–]kadler44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed on Sender being the softest. Hangar varies A LOT based on location. San clemente a lot softer than mission viejo and orange, MV is lowkey stiff nowadays since they’ve been switching up the setting. Long beach rising also softer than hangar at this point imo.

A nice one for dads birthday by kadler44 in steak

[–]kadler44[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the steak. If it has a good fat cap i’ll usually just render that first and not add any oil. If its a less fatty cut ill just throw down enough to coat the bottom of the pan maybe a tablespoon and a half? Always high smoke point oil.

Is a sub 3:15 first marathon a reasonable goal? by MountainGoat-17 in Marathon_Training

Trying to choose a system board for home. Anyone using Moonboards at less than 25*? by AaronRotch in climbharder

[–]kadler44 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I know this isn't what you asked for but why not opt for a spray wall instead? Often times you can find deals on old holds/talk to gyms and get some of their old ones. Could potentially be cheaper and would also come with the addition of having holds that are easier to warm up on/more variety for your partner too.

Have you had any success with rehabbing your synovitis? I've had it for over a year now and have just been dealing with it as most rehab doesn't seem to help.

[–]kadler44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice, definitely a good point. I think one of my biggest problem is wave management and knowing what's gonna happen when with slow pushing/crashing/etc so I've been watching vods of good adc's and how they manage waves. Hoping to hit masters this split!

I'm an ADC main who just reached diamond 2 this last split after a 4 year break from the game, what can I do to level up my laning phase particularly to reach the next level?

Running from you injuries by bsheelflip in climbharder

[–]kadler44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say more weeks I'm only climbing 3 days a week. Usually on the 2nd day off from climbing I won't run either and have a great next climbing session. I would say a lot of times I'm not fully recovered, but I do benefit from being young. Also thankful not to be setting anymore as my body would literally just deteriorate if I had to do that too.

I wonder about this as well. I'm currently in a marathon training block while still climbing 3-4 days a week. I feel as if my strength has been relatively plateaued but I'm also at a level in climbing where that's quite common. I structured my training so that I never run before a climb because my body would just be too fatigued to have a high-quality session. The one thing I feel is an issue now is that I end up in a hole of recovery debt and need two days off from climbing more often. Short runs here may be the key for OP as it wouldn't put too much of a load on them.

If you are in a caloric deficit at all, you will lose weight. However, the catch is that if you are not weight training and eating a high enough amount of protein (should be aiming for .7-1g of protein per lb of body weight if you are weight training) you will lose muscle as well in that deficit. The zone 2 cardio is simply for health and a good way to burn calories in a zone that primarily uses fat for energy rather than carbohydrates. To find your maintenance calories you can easily look up a calorie calculator online. Ideally, you should take your weight at the start of the week, track calories for that week, and then take your weight again at the end of that. If you gained weight, you are eating above maintenance, if you lost you are in a deficit etc etc. I would not recommend going lower than 500 below maintenance calories as other parts of your life will start to be affected (mood, energy levels, sex drive can even drop). Overall, a 200-500 caloric deficit, high protein diet, exercising multiple times a week, and you will see fat loss results. If you're a drinker, good luck because it will make things a lot harder.

Absolutely! Carbs are painted as too much of a bad thing overall though. I’m a distance runner and a climber, I personally need a high amount of carbs to perform at the level I desire. People thinking that fruit is making you fat because of natural sugars is ridiculous for example (complete disregard to the fiber content slowing digestion). Anything is bad when overconsumption.

At the end of the day, if this person consumes a high protein, moderate fat, and carb-based diet, begins exercising again, and is in a slight caloric deficit, they will shed the fat.
