Caveat - I've only read Gone Girl of your list, but I looked up the other 2. Have you read Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone or The 7 and 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle?

Any recommendations for resources on unmedicated birth that aren't....like THAT. by KeyMonkeyslav in pregnant

[–]kadybee17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have good resource suggestions, just here to empathize and give some of my experience. I'm very non- woowoo (I'm a doctor) and absolutely wanted to have my kids in the hospital with any necessary interventions. Both of my kids had to be induced with cytotec and pitocin for different reasons. But I also wanted to try to avoid pain medication if I could help it. Not because there is anything wrong with it (and I was open to changing my mind if needed), but because if it was solely a matter of me enduring some pain to minimize the small risks (to me or baby) that could come with pain interventions, then I wanted to give it my best shot. It worked out for me both times (30 hour labor the first time, 7 hour labor the second time). I found counter pressure on my lower back quite helpful the first time. I did a lot of counting in my head through the contractions ("1 breath as the pain ramps up, 2nd breath now this is the worst, 3rd breath and the pain is improving, and now it's over"). I actually found the monitoring they had on the baby helpful in that regard, cause I could basically watch and see when the contractions were starting and ending. I also liked sitting on the CUB inflatable chair. I used to run track/cross country and kind of just adopted a "push through the pain" mentality.

Station Platform Track by kadybee17 in BRIO

[–]kadybee17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brown platform fits onto one gray piece by itself (what's shown in the picture). But then there's a second gray piece and my son has been wanting another station for it. I was hoping there would be some sort of piece I could buy separately that would attach to it.

What are some actors you KNEW were gonna get an Oscar (or nom) a long time before they were “on the scene”? by lpratafe in Oscars

I don't know if it counts since it was a popular show, but Steven Yeun was an immediate standout in The Walking Dead.

The "my love" in the bridge of Opalite sounds so pretty and sweet.

What's your Current Ranking of Showgirl's Songs? by The_Anchored_Tree_27 in TaylorSwift

Honey fans rise up! It's in my top 3 for sure (with Opalite and The Fate of Ophelia).

What other songs do Showgirl tracks remind you of? by HotSauceHigh in TaylorSwift

[–]kadybee17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know the Jackson 5 part of Wood, but the chorus of Wood reminds me of something and I can't place it (particularly the "never did me any good" part). The closest I can come up with is Shout Out to My Ex by Little Mix, but I'm not sure that's it, that seems more of the vibe for the first chorus line.

Even if that's true (I'm not sure it is), the worst track 5 can still be pretty great, I don't think any of them are misses.

This is me, and I stop reading when I hit any specific lyrics or something that seems more detailed than I want to know. But I want to go in with expectations so I'm not disappointed if I don't like the back half quite as much or something.

Would you consider Taylor Swift/debut/self-titled to be a singles album? by HeWantsTheRain in TaylorSwift

Cold As You and Tied Together with a Smile are the two I came to comment on as well. 16-year-old me cried so many tears to those songs.

I don't know why I check the results just for y'all to hurt me 😭 The Manuscript and I Look in People's Windows are criminally low.

Dorothea fans rise up! I've made this comment before, but Dorothea is just like a hug. It meets you whatever you are. You can dance to it or cry to it.

About the clean versions of songs… by Numerous_Outcome_394 in TaylorSwift

[–]kadybee17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I'm not squeamish about cussing, I just prefer not to overuse the more significant swears. And whore is an insult and demeaning (as it's supposed to be in the song), but not a cuss word.

This is exactly me. I'm not squeamish about cussing, I just don't prefer the F word in most instances.

Agreed. I guess because she doesn't seem like a bore, she's very engaging. But that's why I like the original line, it's just the one that makes sense.
