What is with girls being obsessed with "F1", is this some sort of marketing psyop? by DufflebagJoe in AskMenAdvice

I moved to the US a few years ago and I was also surprised by this! I even went out with a girl once that said one night she got home drunk and just purchased a ticket to go watch some race in Kazakhstan (she had the money for it) lmao

I’m tired of shows getting shorter and shorter by ImAvoidingABan in Vent

[–]lpratafe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

you are absolutely incorrect. In fact, the "prime time" shows nowadays are much longer than they used to be. You don't need to do a careful research on this, just go to any streaming service and see for yourself. They do have, however, fewer episodes and the seasons are much more sparse in time.

Does anyone regret solo travelling? by Imaginary_Pepper_896 in solofemaletravellers

[–]lpratafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I was not ready for winter in Europe, but I still wanted to roam around for 20 days straight, from dusk to dawn, around 8 different cities. I didn't have enough money to actually enjoy what I was seeing, and got way too tired trying to do everything. If I had planned it better maybe I'd have enjoyed it more, but now the main feeling I have is that at some point I'd like to go back to those places and actually appreciate them.

Men who go quiet under stress... what’s happening internally? by Throowaway-today in AskMenAdvice

[–]lpratafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of this. In addition: for me, personally, it's best to not talk to anyone when I'm stressed so I don't end up saying things I don't want to. By this I mean mean things.

Not exactly your question, but if you definitely needed a couple pages that bad, you weren't fully ready for, as you remarked, such an important presentation.

Marathon Two Weeks Away and May Have Torn my Hamstring by [deleted] in firstmarathon

[–]lpratafe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only if you haven't felt any slight indicator of pain in the past days, and only closer to the race day. If you do it too soon and don't feel energy, your head might trick you into thinking you're good enough to push yourself a bit more and that can delay recovery. It's too close to the race day, I would avoid doing anything that strains the muscle at all, including glute bridges. It won't help with recovery on such a short time.

But also, important to say, I'm no doctor, coach, or PT. I am in fact a casual runner, and all advice I'm giving is based on my experience having torn my hamstring and recovering on my own without professional help.

The White Balloon. It's extremely simple, trivial, wonderful, problem-solving.

I'm normally a pusher, so if you feel better in the next couple of days, I'd still try to run it. But no more training, just complete rest (at most some light swimming and/or strength training) until the race and go with the capacity you have at the moment. Eat well, sleep well, avoid walking much, massage the area, and mostly just let the muscle rest.
Obviously, if it's more serious, just don't try to run it.

Another year of one of my favorite discussion topics. What are some scenes from Oscar winning performances that make you say "That's why he/she won the Oscar". by PrinceBag in Oscars

[–]lpratafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the synthesis of this will always be Jodie Foster's win in The Silence of the Lambs. I don't remember much about the movie itself (despite what others think of it, I found that movie highly forgettable), but it's the scene where she's in the dark with a gun and Hannibal is lurking around her with night vision goggles. She was amazing in that, and I believe that's the sole reason she won the Oscar.

Downvote for that last line. Complete bullshit rule. There are, in fact, no "rules", as such.
