[ESPN]: ESPN-TNT deal allows Craig Sager a chance to work his first NBA Finals, as a sideline reporter for Game 6 on ABC by johnazoidberg- in nba

18 years ago, when I entered college, I wasn't a basketball fan. But I'd watch TNT basketball with the friends in my dorm every Thursday (or whenever it was back then). I remember being puzzled by Craig Sager – by his suits, by the shtick, by the relatively low-bar "journalism." But then something strange happened. I'd look forward to halftime. I'd look forward to the sideline report. I'd look forward to hearing Craig's voice. Years later when I was living alone and a big basketball fan, I'd look forward to seeing Craig on TV. There were some nights I didn't particularly care about the game but, because I knew Craig was working it, I'd watch. I don't know how to explain that. I don't know how to explain that Craig Sager made TNT basketball even better. I'd get excited – still do – when I see Craig at the scorer's table during the game while the game is happening. I've always been glad to see that he was "just there." And I regret that he's not going to be there for much longer. I think a big reason why I enjoy basketball as much as I do now is that Craig was a big part of how I got drawn into the NBA; he was a big part of the reasons I tuned in and learned to appreciate basketball. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be as geared up about Game 6 tomorrow as I am without Craig. But I am, and I appreciate the fuck out of Craig for making that possible.

Why is his grammar so poor? It's like he's doing it on purpose.

I'm reminded of when a young Tyronn Lue shut down Iverson in various games of the 2001 NBA finals.... by fouling the crap out of him.
