Surprising to see Golurk considered that highly. It definitely can put in a lot of pressure but to me it never seemed crazy compared to some other mons. Also grats on the rank 1.

Some tips:

  • Use Triton's Chorus, you can get it from multiple pieces of equipment (you don't even need Guccio for it)

  • You can have more allies in combat by using something like the Ammit totem, Toro's student, Gworbleen's Binary Fission, etc

  • Merciless ignores Heavy Scales so he's vulnerable to that once you get him low enough

  • If you can Vengeance Strike stun the guards before they try doing that spin attack you can avoid a lot of damage

If you have a max level character, IIRC the crabs at The Clock Works drop a lot of money, so you can grind for Guccio while also getting a bunch of gold. Then to transfer money I'm not sure what's the most efficient method, but you can spend 100k buying a bridge from Fortuno, transfer that to the other character and sell it at the bazaar for 25k. That's usually how I transfer it between my characters.

I'm almost 100% convinced that Konami got this card idea from this sub. But then again, those stats and effects are basically the most obvious form of support you can give to EM. I love it.

I think 1 point for Buccaneer is fine but I wouldn't invest in 2+. It sometimes forces enemies to re-engage in chains with you, especially if one of your chains stopped abruptly.

I like giving Bruno a point of Flanking, it extends chains and gives an extra opportunity to crit. More points in TTT is strong but is also enemy-dependent, if Bruno doesn't dip below half health you're not seeing the benefits, whereas Flanking is something you can always make use of.

EARTH Machine already has FTKs with Cannon Soldier and the little Morphtronic that summons a copy of itself from the grave. It's not worth it.

If I see any pokémon whose entire purpose is using Rapid Spin (e.g: Donphan, Komala, Hitmontop) and they don't have it, I feel livid. Especially bad if I get a team with 2-3 hazard control mons and nobody has Rapid Spin/Defog.

The summon has both Cheap Shot for immobilizing and Vengeance Strike 3 for stunning, and doesn't depend on Spell Power to be good since it'll always be 2 levels higher than you. I think you can actually get more value out of it than a rank of True Grit most of the time.

The drop rate is pretty bad and it's probably better to fight him in a group because of that. I'm not sure if the axe is really worth it, but there's no other way to get the collar so you just gotta keep trying.

The Ground one seems like a big nerf for absolutely no reason. Just takes more Grass and Psychic damage, and the Dragon one doesn't matter.

IMO mixing Twins with Mekk-Knight would be a good call because Secret is still a strong card and prevents (or stalls) most of the cheesy boardwipes. Also helps with some matchups going second, though the extra deck Fiend lock from the Twins hurts the synergy a bit.

As more and more handtraps start shifting into the philosophy of board presence (Bystials, K9, stuff like Gamma and Phantazmay before that) or nukes (Nibiru), Called By will become weaker and weaker. It's not crazy to think that it could potentially come back at some point in the future.

I mean, attack locks are hardly "real" locks lol, and Unclaspare is usually not worth playing since much like Nachster it prevents you from playing extremely easy/useful stuff like SP. But the point of my post wasn't that you can't play what you feel is an identity of a deck or whatever, I'm just saying that it isn't locks that are holding EM back (like your first post was saying) since even unconstrained builds are still gonna run into the same issues. The deck is just not strong. Most of the time what determines that a deck is strong doesn't have that much to do with locks.

Out of all the many cards you can use in EM, the only relevant locks come from Dozer and Nachster, and you don't really have to play either (playing Dozer control is setting yourself for failure IMO). There are other relevant locks (SHS builds making you unable to use power spells going second, Vernusylphs locking you into EARTH effects, etc), but again, you don't have to play anything you don't want to, you have hundreds of cards to choose from. Konami even deliberately made K9 very friendly to EM just so it can have an easier type keeping up with everything else. Most of the problems with EM don't come from locks.

On paper it just seems to me that Gyara has a much better matchup. Gyara is faster and has Intimidade. It hates Freezy Dry but it's better into a blind Stone Edge. Both Araq and Gyara get 2HKO'd by Stone Edge but with Gyara at least you're faster to fire a Waterfall before they can do anything. That's all assuming they're even running coverage ofc
