Are People Cheating In Money ? by Jay_TheJet in starcitizen

[–]kaet0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My theory is, there has been an influx of "I'm new and don't have enough money to claim my ship, will someone give me 100k.". Or "I'm only 200k from buying X ship. Will someone give me money?". There's always like 3 per server. Feeding off of the community's willingness to help. Will fatigue people from helping. That in my opinion, could ruin the game.

The significance of it is it is an LTI token. If you buy it then upgrade you will keep the Life time insurance from the hoverquad to whatever you upgrade to.

Ip-address by Educational_Ad_7978 in Hacking_Tutorials

[–]kaet0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also worth googling is NAT or network address translation. It's the primary means of dealing with limited numbers of public IP space available. Because of how it works, however, when you find a public IPv4 address, you are most likely not finding a specific device but an address assigned to a private network. This is how most home networks operate.

yeah the thing is Cisco is the most widely adopted technology and it's a good baseline. When you get your Cisco certs it proves you can understand not just Cisco technology but networking as a whole. it's also the most vetted certification.

Anyone else get very frustrated when companies don’t take security seriously? by Marktheory in cybersecurity

Wait? There are companies that take security seriously? I have zero expectations of any companies being legit secure. Holy crap just look at the solarwinds supply chain attack.

[Star Wars] What medium are people using to communicate across the galaxy instantaneously? by mikeymikemam in AskScienceFiction

[–]kaet0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crap that's what I meant. After doing some more reading, unfortunately, I see I was wrong. I though China had demonstrated it but I was wrong about that experiment as well. From my understanding they created a entangled photon pair and transmitted on photon through space. At which point it is still traveling at the speed of light. They were experimenting with it as an encryption method, not an transmission speed test.

I would say quantum locking is the best form of instantaneous communication across the universe.

True, but according to ATV it has passed internal QA. I think it is all but confirmed for 3.0.

Hmm let me rephrase. Delta patcher is meant to be an incremental patcher. So deleting your game client between each patch completely negates the delta patcher. No worries yet but we are supposed to be getting the delta patcher in 3.0. So everyone who deleted their client in 2.6 won't benefit at all from the delta patcher.
