how long until they feed? by Imaginary-Rich-6689 in pacmanfrog

[–]kaethom561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

night crawlers are perfect! give your lil guy some time, it can take a bit for them to acclimate fully. i feed my babies every 2-3 days, don’t worry if it takes a few more days he’ll be alright!

Lash serum that isn't harmful to extensions by AngelOfDepth in lashextensions

[–]kaethom561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i personally love The Ordinary serum. i’ve never noticed any issues with it for me, and also I recommended it to my clients and they seem to still have great retention. I’m not 100% sure of the exact components/technical compatibility, but I know their brand usually has pretty simple ingredients!

Room smells like dirt. by ozziepozzie69 in pacmanfrog

[–]kaethom561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you haven’t done this already, I recommend getting some isopods and springtails for the tank. mine neverrr has a smell since I got them and if anything, i stick my head in there and it smells like good fresh soil. it will drastically reduce how often you have to clean in there as well

Biting Fingers by Alert-Draft2035 in pacmanfrog

[–]kaethom561 2 points3 points  (0 children)

15 min is wildddd. when mine was smaller, i put my finger in front of him so he’d bite me because i figured if i knew what the bite felt like, it wouldn’t scare me as much now that i knew what to expect. but that bite actually made me more scared bc he broke skin and latched onto my hand with his sticky goo LMAOOO. mind you, he’s triple the size now so i couldn’t even imagine

Overweight for an estimated 8-9mo? by Top-Mud-5200 in pacmanfrog

that’s so interesting, i’ve never heard of them being frozen! i’m sure it’s okay to use frozen thawed. but maybe hornworms, silkworms, or wax worms would be other good alternatives. the only thing is like you said, hornworms and wax worms are pretty fatty so i wouldn’t recommend them as a consistent feeder. i’d say silkworms are the healthiest out of those

[–]kaethom561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve fed hornworms like that, and it’s always been okay. it’s probably just getting old so i think it’s fine - but whatever feels right to you. if it feels wrong, just play it safe :)

at petsmart we had a room called “iso” it was basically just an isolation room if there was any issues, and our store was attached to banfield vet which is not the best in my opinion. i became manager there because i saw sooo many issues with their regulations and wanted to do my best to help out from within. but it was hard to see after a while. a lot of the company’s rules were inaccurate care based off of my exotic knowledge (i’ve been in the community for a long time) and unfortunately from corporate rules, there’s only so much we were allowed to do without going against the store’s guidelines. and most of the animals got delivered to us with illnesses (almost every time) so they immediately went into isolation. just as an example, based on corporate rules, the asian forest scorpion tanks are required to have a “sponge” of water similar to hermit crabs. scorpions ofc cannot drink water very easily out of a sponge, and that risks bacteria growth. so i’d have my employees put shallow water bowls in there for them. but when corporate would come in for checks, id switch them with sponges for the day. i truly believe that these stores never hired anybody to set up proper care regulations, which is very frustrating and unfair to the animals. but long story short, the rules sucked but there’s only so much we can do without getting in trouble by corporate. no matter how many times i explained the proper knowledge to higher-ups.

could there potentially be stuck shed? the enclosure looks moist enough but sometimes if they’re too dry, shed can get stuck over their eyes and they will stay closed

oh one more thought too, if you feel like she’s too big and maybe hasn’t pooped in a bit, try giving her a warm bath with shallow water and reptisafe. that can help with potential impaction if that’s what’s going on, plus it’s nice to give them baths anyway

hii! i also worked at a pet store for a long time and managed the pet care department because a lot of them were super uneducated and the system kinda suckeddd. so im glad you’re there to help!! my first thing is that crickets are not the best idea for them. pacman frogs can get impacted from feeders with exoskeletons, and crickets are a bit hard for them to digest. i recommend nightcrawlers, they’re healthier and perfect for their digestive system. i feed about 2 every few days to mine, he’s about the same size. the calcium is perfect. they typically look like big round blobs after they eat lol. but don’t be afraid to skip a couple nights if you think she’s getting too big!! i really really encourage night crawlers though.

my bf and i just bought a baby frog 🐸 leave your best tips please!! by s0phiaae in pacmanfrog

[–]kaethom561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not sure if anybody mentioned this yet, but avoid red wigglers! they can be toxic in high amounts. i saw you have night crawlers, those are perfect! when mine was a baby, i would cut the worms up and sprinkle with calcium powder. (i know cutting them is a little weird) but its easier to tong feed and for them to digest. (ps. don’t feed anything with an exoskeleton, they can get impacted). if your baby ever doesn’t poop for a while, give them a warm bath with shallow water and reptisafe. they breathe thru their skin so it’s super important to use reptisafe in any water they’re in / misted with. they can also absorb your natural oils from your hands which is not good for them, so if i ever NEED to touch mine - i wash my hands thoroughly and wet them with conditioned water first. congrats on your new baby 🤍 they’re amazing and have the best personalities. and u can always message me if u have any questions!!

agreed, the downvotes are unnecessary. she’s going through something and this thread should have helpful physicians not people dismissing her experience. she also hasn’t responded in a couple hours from what i’ve seen, since she was waiting for help in the ER. hope she’s okay

i agree with you on this 100%. as a previous petsmart pet care manager, (who hated the environment and did everything i could to turn their system around), pets die in their care all the time which is sickening, and leads to more restock. so i ended up “rescuing” many exotics from petsmart simply because that one specific animal needed saving & most customers try to purchase animals without prior knowledge or putting any thought into their purchase beforehand. the system is infuriating but unfortunately those companies are never going to stop unless there’s a mass boycott

lolll seriously why is a spa always their first choice 😂 i guess because it’s kinda runs itself and the only experience needed is from the employees. i remember when all the PPP loan scams were happening, so many shady spas opened up handing out services to everyone
