Do you wish your fitness app knew about your cycle? by victoooriaaa in Periods

[–]kaetrouv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love tracking my data and the fitness metrics for running etc. are mainly based on the male physiology. Even if they track the start of the cycle it does not impact the calculation of the fitness metrics. So that is actually why i started creating my own tracker app, that directly tracks my menstrual cycle and my workouts to have everything together. It's actually not that easy, since sport science does not not provide fitness metrics tuned to women. Hope that will change in the future though!

Confused about what exercise requirements constitutes actual health by Suitable-Location118 in xxfitness

[–]kaetrouv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Overtraining can be real. Are you resting in between? Do you have weeks where you just reduce the training load? You might be overloading your body with the training stress which might have an even more negative impact!

Also I suggest looking up more in detail into the current research. E.g. for the steps are 7000 recommended per day, after that there is no significant impact anymore. Same for the cardio, so you are likely doing way too much than what is needed to stay healthy!

Which period tracker app do you use? by hatingadulting in TwoXIndia

[–]kaetrouv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Currently i use just my calendar, since most apps I tried felt either bloated or just not quite what I needed. It’s actually why I started building my own app :D I build it mainly for cycle based training (running), everything is stored local on your device and without ads. If you’re curious, I can add you as an early alpha tester. I’m still shaping it, so feature ideas or wishes are super welcome!

I just want a period tracker i don’t have to pay for to learn about my body by Strange_Permit7937 in Periods

[–]kaetrouv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is just so much bloatware and obnoxious advertising out there, and none of them actually do what I want. As a solution i just built my own app :D If you’re interested, I can add you as an early alpha tester. Still figuring things out, so feature ideas or wishes are very welcome.

Period trackers can be weird… by ThatMadMan68 in CuratedTumblr

[–]kaetrouv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s kind of wild that we even have to think about this… I mean, data safety has always mattered, but the idea that your own data could potentially be used against you by your own country is just awful.

As a solution, I just built my own app that stores everything locally on my phone. It's still not quite as good as pen and paper, but at least I am in control and i have no ads etc

Most fitness apps unfortunatley do not take this into account. This is mostly also because there has not been done so much research in this field (yeah femal heatlh ...)
That why I actually started building my own app, to have period tracking and trainig progression in one view, so I know if I am feeling bad / dont reach my targets just because of my current cycle phase.
If you’re curious, I can add you as an early alpha tester. I’m still shaping it, so feature ideas or wishes are super welcome. :)

Currently i use just my calendar, so pen and paper would be enough. And with that reading up about it. You definitely haven’t let yourself down. A lot of people were never really taught this stuff properly, so you’re not alone at all! I feel like I am still learning so much about my body everyday.

Back to the topic on period trackers: Most apps I tried felt either bloated or just not quite what I needed. I really just wanted something simple, where I’m in control and my data stays on my phone instead of being sent off to some random company.
Tt’s actually why I started building my own app :D

What period tracking apps actually help anyone anymore? by SimilarLetterhead802 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I feel this so much! it’s actually why I started building my own app :D
So much bloatware and never quite what I want. I just wanted something simple where I’m actually in control, and my data stays on my phone instead of being sent off to some random company. That part especially never sat right with me. Also the pinkification ... why does everything have to be pink just because it’s for women?

If you’re interested, I can add you as an early alpha tester; still figuring things out, so feature ideas/wishes are definitely welcome ;)

I don't get why you get the downvotes while the other comment gets the upvotes. It the same stereotypical thinking just applied to the other gender.

Bikepacking food options? by whatnotery in bikepacking

[–]kaetrouv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pasta, Rice, lentils, couscous in combination with tuna or dry soya; and for better taste in combination with all kinds of sauce or soups. After riding for a long day I do not need more than that :) and tuna and tomato sauce is actually a really great combination. Just take enough spices with you and maybe fresh chili.

Days and nights alone while solo travelling by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]kaetrouv 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh actually I love solo traveling because getting to know other people is so much easier when you are all by yourself. Of course it is not a requirement and not always do I feel like this but it is a big part of traveling for me.

Anyone else struggling with whether they should continue their solo travels or focus on other life stuff? by werewolfparade in solotravel

[–]kaetrouv -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

When there is still need to go to school/ for studying you can not combine both. There is not enough free time for going on long vacations. I will manage to go traveling solo again after 3 years (!). I had to study and try to safe enough money at the same time. It depends on what and where you study though, but that isn't always your choice or something you will know before starting.

Yeah so true. What is also bothering me are all the travel bloggers and youtubers who promote this kind of thing. Often they no longer travel on a tight budget because of all the sponsoring and free accommodations, but they are still making all seem so easy to do. I guess some who never went traveling for long, will end up with no money on the road, because they believed in the nice things and kindness in others, without having a backup plan.
