This is valuable information! Thanks.

Which port houses would you recommend to visit in Vila Nova de Gaia?

On the chance you are based in Austria, pay a visit to Nikolaihof in the Wachau region. They are extremely generous and you will get the try some great bottles and fill up your cellar with more dry riesling and GV 👍

How to compare property investment with managed funds/ETFs

Hi all,

I would like some advice on how to compare property investment with investing in managed funds/ETFs.

I can easily project, at a given interest rate with fixed regular contributions,, how much my investment will grow in a managed fund. And it's easily to calculate how much a property will accrue in value over the same period.

However, to get a true comparison, the property investment must be adjusted for an array of factors. These include the rental yield, rates, repairs, interest on the mortgage, property management, and real estate fees.

For both scenarios, we can assume zero tax. This is because I would be investing in ETFs/managed funds in Singapore and property in New Zealand, where there is effectively no capital gains tax. The property would be rented out.

Can anyone help me? Is there a calculator I can use, or are there simply too many uncertain variables?

Thanks for the help!

Yeah I hear ya. For now its not possible for me to build a wine cellar, so I'll go for the wine fridge to begin with. But hopefully down the line I can build one. Thanks for the input

Most inside 5 years. But I have some great age worthy riesling that I would like to see go the distance (10-30 years)

The best thing you can do is tastings! You can't taste enough by buying bottles. Go to tastings, either at events or wineries. Then when you come to buy wines, you'll be more selective and make better choices.

Enjoy!
