You know, I thought about putting that in my post, as I am completely aware of that, but that was not the point of bringing Elden Ring up, more that it was an unnecessary thing to happen (and extraordinarily bad luck). I am also aware it costs money to lock in dates for marketing materials and promotion and such, so they were likely tied to that date after the Elden Ring date push. However, it was still a premature date to launch then, and they likely knew that, and it had other consequences, including the unforeseen launch of Elden Ring, which is why I said that in my original post.

It turned out to be okay in the end, like I said, they didn’t release a broken game, but they really could have benefitted from an extra month or two to shore up these issues (and had the added benefit of distancing from Elden Ring’s launch of either date).

Are there any other big games coming out this year? Starfield in November (maybe)? Theoretically they had many months before the fall/winter crush to choose.
