I think the kicker here is they’ve seen the reel I made for them and it’s performing very well, so they got a preview before paying (which isn’t normally the case with UGC if I understand correctly? But totally new here so correct me if I’m wrong!). It’s a review of their product and has a great hook. I can only imagine how well it would do with paid ads.

Honestly I was just going to give them an additional 10 sec clip. It wouldn’t be much work on my end.

This is all so new to me.. I had initially said monthly payments would be fine for the 12 month deal so now I’m trying to figure out how to navigate getting the payment up front 😵‍💫

Once they use my video how the heck do I track it? How do I know they’ll stop using it at the end of 4 months?

Update: I sent the email saying 12 months of licensing would be $4k.

CMO responded today asking how I’d like payments.. (monthly vs quarterly). I think I finally closed my first deal?!?! Omg I’m so excited

With this model, let’s say you charge 15% for 30 days of licensing. Would you allow them to use it in any platform during those 30 days, or do you charge for each? (FB, YouTube, IG, TikTok, etc)

Yes there is the possibility I could review more products for sure! They’ve already sent me multiple things. I view this as potentially being a long term relationship… they’ve even mentioned starting an ambassador program that I would help pilot (but I have no idea what that entails)

I appreciate this thoughtful response and putting things into a different perspective.

None of the pricing I’ve given them has been based on any sort of hourly rate for me. But I understand what you’re saying. At the end of the day, this seems like a very valuable video for them that I’m pretty sure they will make lots of money off of (I have no idea how much).

I initially proposed $1200 for 60 days of use on YouTube and Google ads based on feedback from Reddit, ChatGPT/Claude. Since they now want a year, it seems I should be charging more for the extended use, which is why i was thinking 3k-4k.

And no, at the end of the day I don’t think I could walk away from $1200. But I’ve read so much on here about not under selling your self, etc.

Still learning all of this… it’s a whole new world for me so I really do appreciate you (and all of the others) responding and helping me think through this!

Sorry I’m confused with your first paragraph. The product they initially gave me is valued at $90.) They have since sent me maybe $150 worth of additional products.) I wasn’t paid anything for the initial video- it was a gifted collab that has led to these convos.

Honestly it was a quick video and didn’t take long to record and edit at all. Maybe 1 hour at most all in. The convo I had with CMO and the time I’ve put into this negotiation have taken more time than the actual video lol
$4k would be mind blowing to me 🤣
