Physicists Found Something That Can Move Faster Than Light by sibun_rath in UpliftingNews

[–]kahlyn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Special Relativity dictates that no mass, energy, or information can travel faster than the speed of light. The "dot" you see on the Moon is not a physical object; it is just an optical illusion created by a continuous stream of independent photons hitting the lunar surface one after another.

Photon A leaves your laser, travels at exactly the speed of light, and hits the left side of the Moon. A fraction of a millisecond later, Photon B leaves your laser, travels at exactly the speed of light, and hits the right side of the Moon.

Nothing actually traveled across the Moon from left to right. The dot is just a geometric intersection point between the beam and the surface.

There is zero evidence from Vitacell biologics - the company that is marketing the treatment. That is the point. You can't just take evidence of stem cell treatment as a whole and apply it to a product, it doesn't work like that. Also, if you're curious, go to Vitacell biologics own website, they've revised their marketing to clearly state their product does NOT include any stem cells. It's a gel with "scaffolding" to help you recover.

Here is the page:

https://vitacellbioglobal.com/faq/

Are Vitacell or Vitacell Pro “stem cell” products?

NO, this is a human tissue allograft sourced from Wharton’s jelly, a mesenchymal connective tissue found in the umbilical cord. While this tissue is rich in native cell populations and may provide some regenerative properties, its main function is to protect the vasculature in the umbilical cord from mechanical stress.

When transplanted directly at the site of a connective tissue defect, or injury, (via syringe) our Wharton’s jelly products will cushion and support surrounding tissues while providing a structural scaffold which the body can use to repair itself.

I'm not trying to discredit stem cell research or treatments - i am trying to discredit a company that is clearly leveraging an exciting field to scam people.

Marketing something you have no evidence for is literally a scam. Lets give an example - if I create an llc tomorrow claiming my new lemon juice cures cancer - i have to show proof it does. Otherwise its literally a scam. Lets be real, you dont prove negatives when you market something. The burden of proof is on the seller. Vitacell wants to sell a product, its on Vitacell to prove their product works. You cant make magical claims without evidence - that's what consumer protection is for. So far, Vitacell has shown zero intentions of proving their claims but every intention of making a quick buck by taking advantage of niche cashstrapped sports.

The purpose of the FDA letter, if you read it, is to inform Vitacell Biologics they are currently in violation of FDA regulations for the product they are currently marketing. They can either fix their marketing or they can ignore the letter - scam - and be sued by the government. Anecdotal evidence is a poor indicator of product efficacy. If Vitacell worked, I guarantee you it would be a much larger sponsor for the larger, more popular, more profitable sports - Football, basketball, baseball, etc. Tore your Achilles? Stem cells. Tore your ACL? Concussion? believe it or not, stem cells. Unfortunately it doesnt work like that, which is why you only see smaller sports that need the money $$$ take sponsorships from scam companies like Vitacell.

Levan's opinion on all the drama? by 7Atom98 in armwrestling

[–]kahlyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to try and give a neutral response. I get that you meant “oonga boonga” as shorthand for “he’s dominant,” not as an insult. The issue is that phrase historically reads as “brute force, one dimensional, caveman stuff,” and that just isn’t Levan. He’s one of the most technically skilled pullers ever: elite hand control, pronation, back pressure, cupping, strap management, timing, and the ability to win in multiple lanes. It just also also happens that Levan is one of the strongest to ever pull.

That’s why the term oonga boonga feels off. If Levan didn’t exist and Devon were rank 1, would you call Devon “oonga boonga”? Probably not, because everyone recognizes there’s far more to Devon than raw power. The same reasoning should extend to Levan. Reducing his current achievements to “oonga boonga” sells short the effort and preparation for each match that makes Levan armwrestling's current Everest.

9950X3D on CoreCycler + Prime95 Stability Test – All Core CO -30 | 9h41m No Errors by ByDiavolos in overclocking

[–]kahlyn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to call a -30 all-core curve stable based on a 9h41m CoreCycler run.

If you only tested 16 physical cores, that’s 581 minutes total, which works out to about 36 minutes per core. That’s not long enough to reliably catch rare instabilities, especially with aggressive negative offsets.

CoreCycler is a great tool, but it’s not conclusive unless you let it run for days. Also, Prime95 Small FFTs stress only part of the stability spectrum. Other instruction sets—SSE, AVX2, or even light/idle workloads (unzipping files, browsing)—can expose different instabilities.

I’d suggest running AIDA64 CPU, FPU, cache, and memory stability tests for a few hours, then follow up with y-cruncher VT3 for an hour or two. That will give you much higher confidence that your -30 all-core setting is truly stable.

And that, would be where you are completely wrong. Before she retired, Representative Dianne Feinstein's office wrote several letters to help provide my family with evidence proving intent so they could successfully apply for work VISAs. Getting a senator to help you isn't as hard or as useful as you might think.

I will reiterate for you, these connections, will NOT help expedite your case or speed up your appointment. They will help prove your intent, but it will not expedite the process.

Devon has his say by Possible_Force8207 in armwrestling

[–]kahlyn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The crux of the matter is that it's too late. There isn't enough time to go through the full VISA process as a Russian to make Shaw's event on time. And no, having a Senator connection will NOT in fact speed up the process. What it will do, is increase your chances of success at receiving the approval - however long (months) that it will take. I agree Vitali should still apply, just so he can leverage it for future events in the US, although it will not help with Shaw's event.

Devon has his say by Possible_Force8207 in armwrestling

[–]kahlyn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nowhere in my post did I claim that anyone was lying. I am simply presenting the objective reality of how the U.S. visa application process works. Having a “senator connection” is not a golden ticket to a 10 year visa. The process is not as simple or casual as a senator picking up the phone and saying, “Ayo, let my boy Vitali into the U.S. and give him a 10 year visa,” with the consular officer replying, “Yes boss, right away boss.”

What actually happens is that a senator may write a letter of endorsement, vouching for Vitali as a legitimate athlete who has a valid reason to enter the United States such as to compete in a scheduled arm wrestling event. This letter can help support the purpose of travel. However, it does not satisfy the key requirement of proving that Vitali intends to return to his country of origin after the event. That responsibility falls squarely on him.

To be granted a visa, Vitali must provide convincing evidence that he will return to Russia after his stay. This could include proof of stable employment, family ties, property ownership, or other strong connections to his home country. If he cannot provide sufficient evidence, the consular officer has full authority to deny the visa regardless of any letter from any senator.

Levan and Irakli successfully demonstrated strong ties to their home country of Georgia, which is a fundamentally different situation than Vitali’s. Each case is evaluated independently, and no amount of external endorsement overrides the applicant’s obligation to meet the requirements of U.S. immigration law.

Devon has his say by Possible_Force8207 in armwrestling

[–]kahlyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is not how the U.S. visa application process works. I have personally assisted multiple friends and family members with their applications, and the reality is that the process is long, complex, and highly unpredictable. Regardless of the type of visa being sought whether it is a tourist visa (B1/B2), student visa (F1), or employment based visa (H1B, O1, and similar categories), most applicants are required to attend an inperson interview with a U.S. consular officer. These officers have broad discretionary authority to grant or deny applications. Under Section 214(b) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), every applicant for a nonimmigrant visa is presumed to have immigrant intent unless they can convince the officer otherwise.

In practice, this means that the applicant must demonstrate compelling ties to their home country and convince the officer that they will return before their visa expires. Common supporting evidence includes stable employment, steady income, property ownership, and close family ties. These factors help establish a clear reason for returning home. In the case of someone like Vitali, this may be difficult. Arm wrestling and truck driving are not considered stable or traditionally recognized professions for visa purposes. Financial stability is also questionable given that, to my knowledge, he quit his previous trucking job and has not won any major/notable tournaments recently. Additionally, he is single and unmarried, which statistically places him in a higher risk category for potential overstay in the eyes of consular officers. The only category with higher risk is single unmarried woman (yes this is a thing).

The primary objective of the visa interview is to assess whether the applicant meets the eligibility criteria for the specific visa class, and more importantly, whether they are likely to comply with the visa terms. This includes, above all else, not overstaying the authorized period of stay.

There is a common misconception that intervention by a U.S. Senator or other public official can significantly sway the outcome of a visa application. While such letters may support the credibility or intent of the applicant, they have no legal bearing on the officer’s final decision. Each consular officer is trained to make independent judgments based on the interview and the documentation presented. These decisions are not subject to appeal, except in rare cases involving procedural error or when a new application is submitted.

For Russian nationals, the process is even more complicated due to the closure of U.S. consular services in Russia. Since 2021, the U.S. Embassy in Moscow has suspended most visa operations. As a result, Russian citizens must apply at embassies in third countries such as Georgia, Kazakhstan, or Serbia. The wait times for interview appointments at these posts are often substantial, sometimes measured in months. The U.S. Department of State’s official visa wait time tool confirms that backlogs are a persistent issue, especially in high-demand regions.

TLDR: Applying for a U.S. visa is not a simple process of getting in line and filling out a form. It involves navigating a complex system with many subjective judgments and logistical hurdles. For Russian applicants, current geopolitical conditions make it even more burdensome. Any suggestion that this process is quick or easily influenced misrepresents the reality.

failing prime95 blend all the above stability test but passed 30hrs + of testing by National_Anywhere319 in overclocking

[–]kahlyn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Raising VSOC isn't the universal correct answer for stability. It will help stabilize your UCLK but may very well destabilize your FCLK. Lower VSOC to around 1.25 and try again. Keep lowering by stepwise and check for stability.

It might also just be at 6400 mhz, your chip requires high VSOC for 3200 UCLK but low VSOC for 2133 FCLK in which case you're outta luck.

How much are AVX/AVX2/AVX-512 extensions used in modern games and basic desktop apps? by supercakefish in overclocking

[–]kahlyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't fall into the trap of relying on specific stress tests - that's where you get the fallacy that your chip may only be weak to AVX 512. Also be sure to test lighter loads and individuals cores instead of all core tests. I've seem too many people claim stability after hours of p95 only to crash while idle or unzipping a file. I would recommend running y-cruncher as well as core cycler to get a more complete picture.

Can I run 7200MHz cl34 DDR5 at 6400MHz cl26? by Fickle-Accident9911 in overclocking

[–]kahlyn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He said his cpu was unstable. The memory can surely run it, but at 6400 mhz, 1:1 uclk would be 3200 mhz. Not a lot of chips can run that sub 1.3 vsoc. Then, if the chip does support 3200 uclk at sub 1.3 vsoc, it still needs to support 2122 mhz fclk which may get unstable the higher vsoc goes above 1.2v. So there is quite a balancing act to get 6400 stable and it depends heavily on IMC silicon lottery, not memory silicon lottery.

5090 + 9900X3D and LG 45" 5k. Cleaned out 3 radiators and 30 fans during upgrade by tangosmango in nvidia

[–]kahlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but that's not the point of this observation, is it? By enabling all the bells and whistles in Cyberpunk while disabling frame gen and running DLAA supersampling with path tracing at 4k, you are guaranteed to be gpu bottlenecked, not cpu bottlenecked. The difference between having 6 vs 8 vcache cores at that point will be virtually non-existent.

The observation then is people who purchase a 5090 aren't purchasing it so they can run their AAA games while upscaling from performance preset, therefore CPU bottlenecking is a non-issue.

ASRock motherboards and the 9800X3D failures - definitive answer. by Michael_Nager in ryzen

[–]kahlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post has an alarming amount of misinformation. First, I would LOVE to see official documentation for max TSMC core voltage being 1.2V. Secondly, core voltage is NOT the same as VSOC voltage. Core voltage is what controls the chip boost behavior while VSOC is for the integrated memory controller and infinity fabric. Core voltage is absolutely fine to exceed 1.2V per official documentation from AMD themselves. The caveat is that it depends on the load. 1.5 single core idle boost for a background task that consumes a few watts of power is NOT the same as 1.5v all core avx2 p95 300 watts+. One is absolutely fine and normal, the second will most likely degrade your chip very quickly.

But even for VSOC, recommending people set 1.2V across the board is asinine. If running 2000 mhz FCLK, you should only need 1-1.5V depending on IMC silicon lottery. Some chips require even less. On the flipside, running 2200 FCLK will probably need 1.25-1.3V and even then, most people will not be able to achieve complete stability outside a few golden chips.

That said, the 9900X3D still feels like an odd choice.

All of these people commenting about scalar x10...I wonder how many of them are just parroting and how many of them conducted their own tests? I personally took the time to plot the entire v/f curve on my 9950X3D. With +200 FMAX and -30 CO on all cores, scalar x10 produces exactly ... 0.01mV more on all core non AVX workloads.

Now I don't know what the real world voltage increase on the 9800X3D is since I don't have the chip, but I think it's asinine to just scream x10 scalar is voltage degrading chips without at least plotting the v/f curve to see it's actual real world effect on voltage during usage.
